Drivers Education Douglass Board of Education Amends the 2016-17 Calendar
During the March regular board meeting the Douglass Board of Education voted to reduce the school year by 4 school days. After careful consideration of all issues involved with the timeline of the Douglass Bond Project it was determined that it would be in the best interest of the staff, students and district to reduce the school year. The last day of school for students will be Friday, May 19th. The students will be dismissed at 1:00 p.m.
By shortening the school year, staff will have the much needed time to empty and move their classrooms, school libraries and all other effected areas so that construction and remodeling can get started. The school district wanted to give parents plenty of time to plan for the shortened school year. This decision will not only allow staff to pack, move and empty the buildings, but will also allow the contractors to get moving on the project. All of the building remodeling is slated to be finished in August. The new additions are expected to be finished in November.
The school district has also created a link on the front page of the Douglass web page to provide information, construction updates and pictures about the Douglass Bond Project. We encourage you to take a look at: www.usd396.net.
The Douglass Bond Project is quickly moving along and the students and staff are very excited about the progress. The project will improve the safety and security of the districts buildings, upgrade the district facilities, remodel and add additions for the benefit of all district stakeholders. We are very grateful for the continued support of the Douglass Community and look forward to sharing the progress of the Bond Project.

Monday, February 13th, marked the end of the 2017 Scholars’ Bowl season with the league tournament being held in Colwich. The Bulldogs were among thirteen other league schools in attendance. Although both teams made it into the final round, they returned home without placing in the top three.
Overall, both teams had a successful season, learned important information, and had a great time! We are extremely proud of each and every scholar who participated this year!
We would also like to send out special appreciation to the volunteers who helped work and the parents of our scholars who were able to supply treats for our home tournament this year. We are always complimented on how smoothly our meets run and what a wonderful variety of goodies we supply. Thank you! You are the best!
