Carol McNamara has offered to help anyone who needs help getting on the site. The goal, as Marilyn stated, is to make the conversion by July of this year to receive our Bloomin’ News online. For those of you who do not have a computer no worries, You will get the printed version. Our Board decided that this year we would hold Quarterly Board Meetings to keep in touch with issues, concerns, and general feedback from our members. We feel that this forum will be constructive to our growth. Please mark your calendars for our 1st Board Meeting Wed, April 29th at 10:00 a.m. at the Community Center. We ask that you send in the agenda item you would like to address to the Board either by e-mail to me or mailing to me at my home address, in doing this we can have a productive meeting. I loved looking out at all yourshinning faces at our meeting inFebruary.

February Meeting Minutes – February 4, 2009

President, Mary Bourn, calledthe meeting to order at 10:42a.m. Vice President, DorisO’Connell, led the Flag Salute,and the November, 2008minutes were approved aswritten.

Gail Strong introduced LouisaBeld of Eleven B, an arts andcrafts shop, as our guest.

Historian Books were presentedfor the ‘07 year to Ann Cisnerosand the ’08 year to Doris Morley.Ann will receive her book later.

Our insurance policy has beenpaid in the amount of $478.00per year.

TREASURER’S REPORT: BeckyMcIntyre reported a balance ofapproximately $3500.00 in thetreasury. The treasurer’s reportwill be posted on Yahoo. We willnot collect for Pennies for Pineseach month but save up for Junewhen we will collect it all atonce. We also will not collect forforgotten badges this year.

BABS: Donna Carmichael is incharge of baskets. BABS mayhave new hours from 10a.m.-3p.m. this year. There are doorsif anyone wants to paint one.

PROGRAMS: We need a team

leader.

MEMBERSHIP: Team of ninewill welcome new members andeach new member will have asponsor to make sure they areinvolved. The roster is on linealso.

PUBLISHING: Marilyn Johnsonreported that the newsletter is onthe website and by July everyoneshould be able to read it thererather than have a mailing,which will save us about$140.00 per month.

Roses for a Lady

Now that Valentine’s Day has come and goneand hopefully some of you received roses fromyour admirer(s), you have the opportunity toprolong that sweet memory throughout thegrowing season.

If you were at the February meeting you heardLorraine Mumm speak about the wonderfulcontribution of 478 bare root roses from HomeDepot to the Club. Roses will be offered to ourmembership at an unbeatable price of $5.00 forbushes and $10.00 for Patio Tree Roses (thereare very few of these).

We were given a wonderful variety of colors andtypes of roses, i.e., Tea Roses, Grandiflora Roses,Floribunda Roses (they produce a whole bouqueton one branch) and Climbing Roses. Colorsrange from lavenders, reds, pinks, oranges,whites and multi colored varieties. The Patio TreeRoses are perfect for pots on your deck. Theirmaximum height is 24-30” and are quite sturdy.

June Short will be having surgery on March 24 at U.C.Davis. She will be in the hospital 2-3 days toremove a mass on her ovaries.
