The Bishops’ School PTA Newsletter – January 2017: Issue 8 The AGM 2017 The AGM was held on the 17 th January and as part of the constitution, the officers all stood down. Luckily we had committee members who raised their hands and we therefore have all the positions filled for another year. So this year we have: PTA Chairperson – Jane Ship (stuck with me I am afraid!) Treasurer – Catherine De Bie Vice Chairperson – Sarah Gibbins Vice Treasurer – Zoe Bond Secretary – Kirsty Mountain Akcil Vice Secretary – Carolina Zoia I gave a roundup of the year which included a massive thank you to the officers of 2016 as last year was a huge team effort. We saw lots of changes as well as trials of new fundraising ideas which were only possible due to the commitment and enthusiasm of the members. My favourite new idea was the introduction of Fab Friday! Lauren Nicholls and Laura Boreham did a ‘fab’ job researching this and got it up and running. We are excited to see its return after the Easter holidays (when the weather warms up). Look out for the posters announcing its return. The AGM saw the breakdown of the accounts. We have tried new ways of buying through bulk purchasing and it has shown positively in the income results at the events. Thank you to the purchasing team and to Kathy Johns for hosting purchasing evenings at her house. So we start 2017 with a healthy bank balance of £17,500 and this means that we can start planning the building of the outside classroom (shown below). The events this year, if as successful as last year, should mean that we can raise enough to finish the adventure playground. My final thank you at the AGM was to every single member of the committee and all parents. All the events that took place last year e.g. Mother’s Day Afternoon Tea, Easter Fayre, book sales, uniforms sales, refreshments, Sports Day, Inflatables Day have been a success due to their assistance and the support of every parent and child who attended and spent money. Each one of you are valued and vital to the fundraising. We swore in and agreed at the AGM to adopt a new constitution. The new constitution is not dissimilar to the old one but it is clearer to interpret and clearly defines the role of the PTA and its members. If anyone wishes to see the new constitution please let me know and I will arrange for a copy to be sent to you. So here’s to an exciting 2017 and our best fundraising year yet! The Bishops’ School PTA Newsletter – January 2017: Issue 8

The AGM 2017

The AGM was held on the 17th January and as part of the constitution, the officers all stood down. Luckily we had committee members who raised their hands and we therefore have all the positions filled for another year.

So this year we have:

PTA Chairperson – Jane Ship (stuck with me I am afraid!) Treasurer – Catherine De Bie Vice Chairperson – Sarah Gibbins Vice Treasurer – Zoe Bond Secretary – Kirsty Mountain Akcil Vice Secretary – Carolina Zoia

I gave a roundup of the year which included a massive thank you to the officers of 2016 as last year was a huge team effort.

PTA Race Night Review

We have started the New Year with a hugely successful new event ‘The

PTA Fun Race Night’.

Laura Boreham did a great job researching this and arranged the evening

which raised just short of £500! Amazing!

Laura secured sponsorship from Hamilton Piers Estate Agent and used ‘On

Course Race Nights’ to run the evening. This allowed PTA members to get

involved and enjoy the event (which we really did). The atmosphere and

excitement during the races was hilarious!!

Well done and thank you, Laura, as we had a lot of fun cheering on our

horses (and pigs…. and dogs too!).

We are hoping to run a similar event in October combining a number of

family games and will get back to you with details.
