The Besom is a practical equipping ministry. Itprovides a bridge between those who have time,money, skills or things they wish to give and thosewho are in need. Often the first steps towardsworking with the poor can be difficult for anynumber of reasons. Everything that The Besom doesis designed to make such steps simple, fun,rewarding and transformative.The Besom is uniquely focused on those who haveand wish to give rather than on those in need. The conference is designed for those who have a passion for the poor andwish to see every member of the local church choosing to be involved withthe poor and the excluded in their community including:­ Those who want to learn more about what the Besom does.­ Those who are interested in starting a Besom and want to know how.­ Those who are considering being part of or giving through a Besom.­ Those who have recently joined a Besom core team.

This year's conference is is hosted by The Besom in York at theirhome in the St Columba's Foundation. Since launching 6 yearsago the Besom in York has worked with givers from 36churches, helping them to give 1000's of hours, things and £££'sto those in need.

Sam is mid­20s, married, drummer, vege grower and wanna­bewoodsman; he gives 2 days each week to be part of the Besom Coreteam. (@Sam_Tyndall)Jo is a Midwife, Grandma, Mother of 4 and an excellent cook. Shegives 1 day a week on the Core team and plenty of cake.Rob co­ordinates the Besom in York and helped set it up in 2007.He is married, loves cooking & is a proud uncle. (@ainsworth_rob)James founded the Besom in 1987 after leaving Hong Kong whenworking with Jackie Pullinger. He presently is a farmer inSomerset, establishing a rural self­employment programme.
