The Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul is a beautiful, historic church, but our facilities are in need renovation and repair. We are currently renovating the

rectory, but work remains to be done to other parts of our campus. As we prepare to celebrate the 125th anniversary of the Dedication of our Church (1890-2015), this is a great opportunity to continue these improvements and bring our facilities to a level that will better serve our parishioners and community.

An all-parish listening session was held on July 30 where parishioners were asked to identify and prioritize the needs of the parish. The Home Campaign will allow us to address the most urgent items identified during the session. These priorities, listed on the back of this page, will enhance the beauty of our church and improve the functionality and safety of our campus.

125th Anniversary Basilica Restoration | $285,000Complete the Restoration of the Church At the request of Bishop Stika and with overwhelming parishioner support, we will move the tabernacle, with the Blessed Sacrament, to the center of the altar. In addition, we will install a marble floor in the sanctuary, restore the altar rail and refurbish the pews and kneelers.

Improve Church Sound System and TechnologyA new sound system will be installed. Improved lighting will add a greater focus to the sanctuary. Technology will be added for broadcasting the Mass to Varallo Hall and the nursery as well as web-based streaming so that the home-bound can participate.

Renovate Nursery and Restroom FacilitiesThe nursery will be relocated to a more clean and convenient location. The space previously used as the nursery will be given better structural stability and then completely renovated to provide for ample restroom facilities. Varallo Hall will also receive moveable walls to allow us to create more meeting space when the whole hall is not being used.

Campus Improvements | $515,000Improve Safety and SecurityA fire alarm will be installed in the church. A campus-wide security system will be installed including cameras, monitors and electronic access doors.

Renovate the Religious Education Building The second floor renovation will be completed for use as classrooms and the third floor will be used for the youth/young adult programs. The renovation will include adding an elevator, fire escape, and sprinkler system.

Savings | $200,000Replenish the parish reserves depleted by the urgent rectory renovation so that the parish has access to funds in case of unplanned maintenance.
