The Baptism of the Lord
This is what John the Baptist proclaimed: “One mightier than I is coming after me. I am not worthy to stoop and loosen the
thongs of his sandals. I have baptized you with water;
he will baptize you with the Holy Spirit.”
It happened in those days that Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee
and was baptized in the Jordan by John. On coming up out of the water he saw the heavens being torn open and the Spirit,
like a dove, descending upon him. And a voice came from the heavens,
“You are my beloved Son; with you I am well pleased.”

ETCETERA... Dearly Beloved Brothers and Sisters, First of all, thank you so much for the outpouring of prayers, love, and concern for Ken and me. As of this writing, Ken's condition has improved. He is able to breathe on his own, respond to commands, recognizes peo-ple, etc. However, his recovery will probably be long, so please continue to pray for him.
As for me, I have been struggling with several hospital stays and remain very weak. As a result of this, and after much prayer and reflection, and for the good of the parish, I have decided to ask Bishop Muench for a leave from the day to day responsibilities of being pastor of St. Aloysius Church so that I can concentrate on my treatments and discern what God calls me to do. Our lives are in God's hands and we can only trust in the promise of our faithful God.
Bishop Muench has granted my request, and Fr. Gerald Burns has gra-ciously agreed to be administrator of the parish in my absence. I thank the staff and all those who have helped in the past few weeks, especially Fr. Sanjay and Deacon Chauvin. Canonically, I remain pastor of the par-ish, so may I dare to ask you to continue to lift up your pastor in prayer as I promise to do the same for you?!
This was the first time since my ordination that I did not celebrate Mass with my community at Christmas and New Year. I missed that very much. I pray that the New Year will be one of grace and abundant bless-ings for all of you. I will miss you very much, especially the children who are so dear to my heart.
Love,
Fr. Than

GIVING TREE
Thank You to all who participated in this year’s Giv-ing Tree!! To the school children and parishioners who made the ornaments, those who manned the tables for Holy Grill Kids and Angel Tree, all who wrapped and delivered gifts to the children, and all who helped with collection and delivery, we could not have done it without you. Many thanks to those who coordinated with the organizations and also to the Parish Office staff, your participation was vital to our success. Most of all, thanks to all of you who donated gifts to those in need in our community. It is a wonderful blessing for them to know that some-one cares. Please keep them in your prayers.

MOMNIPOTENT MOTHERS: A Prayer Group for Mothers
The Momnipotent Mothers are excited to announce a new book study titled, "Mary's Life in the Spirit: Meditations on a Holy Duet." How did Mary, filled with grace since her conception, live her life in the Holy Spirit? How can she teach us to do the same? Join the group to discuss how Mary can influ-ence our own spiritual lives and deepen our experi-ence of the Spirit through our roles as women, wives, and mothers. The group meets on Tuesday mornings at 9:00 a.m. in the KC Hall. Childcare is provided for mothers with young children. Please contact Louise Flavin ([email protected]) for more information and/or to sign up. The first meeting of the year will be Tuesday, January 13, but you are welcome to join at anytime! This is a great oppor-tunity for fellowship and spiritual growth for mothers of all types, so please prayerfully consider joining us!
