Since the inception of the Legends in Energy program in 2007, over 1,000 AEE professionals have
been so designated. This special designation recognizes AEE professionals who have reached certain milestones within the organization.

AEE’s Councils Provide Forums… Council on Women in Energy & Environmental Leadership (CWEEL) CWEEL is AEE’s newest council whose purpose is for women in the industry to network. Their mission is to promote leadership development for women in the energy industry and to provide a network of resources for women in the energy industry. Energy Management Professionals Council (EMPC) The primary purpose of this council is to administer the "Energy Managers' Hall of Fame," an award which gives recognition to an individual for his or her lifetime achievement in energy.

To become a CEM an individual must demonstrate a high level of experience, competence, proficiency, and ethical fitness in the energy management profession
This program is recognized by the US Department of Energy, Office of Federal Energy Management Programs (FEMP), and US Agency for International Development (USAID)
Distinguish Yourself as a CEM® AEE has certified over 14,500 Certified Energy Managers (CEM) and over 26,000 professionals in specialty energy areas. CEM represents a “Who’s Who” in energy management.

and… •The UK Environment Agency has approved the International Certified Energy Manager (CEM) and the International Certified Energy Auditor (CEA) certifications, provided by the Association of Energy Engineers (AEE), as meeting the requirements of the UK Energy Savings Opportunity Scheme (ESOS) to implement Article 8 (4-6) of the EU Energy Efficiency Directive (2012/27/EU).
•The United Arab Emirates’ government’s Regulatory and Supervisory Bureau for the Electricity and Water Sectors’ ESCO Accreditation Scheme requires several AEE certifications.
CEM is available in English, French, Spanish, Arabic and Chinese.
