Editor’s Letter... Sprotbrough waved goodbye to two Head teachers at the end of July.

They were both highly regarded within the community and will be sadly missed by parents and pupils old and new. The Arrow wishes them both a well deserved, happy retirement.

The deadline for the October issue for advertising and articles is Wednesday 18th September. The October Arrow will be delivered from Friday 27th September 2013!

A Fond Farewell to Mrs Rhs

Orchard Infant Primary School bid an emotional farewell to their Head Teacher, Mrs Rhs after 20 years of leading the school.

Mrs Rhs, who looks far too young to be retiring, is doing exactly that! After 38 years in teaching, Mrs Rhs will put her feet up and blow caution to the wind by wearing exactly what she wants, have her hair dyed the colour she wants and for the first time ever, live life without a time table!

Mrs Rhs is sad to be leaving everyone she has worked with over the years and will miss school life but she is happy that the school will be left in safe hands with Deputy Head, Mrs Martin taking over as Head Teacher and Mrs Westerman becoming the new Deputy Head. This will be good news for par-ents and children as Ochard Primary Infant school has enjoyed 20 years of outstanding Ofsted reports and very happy, healthy children.

Copley Junior School celebrate the Retirement of Mr Alan White, after 37 years in teaching.

Mr White has been a dedicated Headteacher here at Copley Junior School for the last 14 years and has been a very successful captain of the ‘Copley Ship’. His contribution to the life of Copley Junior School and the development of many children has been tremendous. His enthusiasm will be missed especially for his involvement in Cross Country, Orienteering, football and the numerous residential’s he has attended.

As staff and parents wished to acknowledge their appreciation for his commitment and dedication to our school they joined Mr White for a farewell celebration on the school field. A fabulous evening was shared with 100’s of parents and children, Governors and Staff and past colleagues, from the Doncaster area. Even past parents and children joined in the picnic on the school field.

There has been much going on at Warmsworth CC over the last few months. Weeks of good weather has provided the opportunity for some very positive results on the cricket pitch and some huge steps forward in the development of the club off the pitch.

The first team have continued their good start to the season and sit in second place in the South Yorkshire Cricket League Division Three, just six points off top spot with four games to go. Promotion isn’t guaranteed yet though for the lads as four clubs are battling for a place in the top three places. With one big last push in the final fixtures, the team have a great chance of putting last year’s relegation well and truly behind them and bouncing straight back into Division Two.

The Midweek XI have also had a brilliant season, maintaining a 100% record to win their league title at a canter. They then built further on their success by claiming the title of Supplementary Cup winners, beating Doncaster Town by five wickets on a cold, wet night at Bentley Colliery. A half century from Chris Hadley played a huge part in the run chase after some tight bowling from Warmsworth restricted their opponents to just 110 for 5 from their 20 overs.

In previous updates we had mentioned that building work had begun on the new developments at Warmsworth Cricket Club, after being successful with a grant bid to Sport England. Since then a lot of hard work has gone into putting that money to good use and we are just about finished in getting all of the external work completed. The building team have put a lot of hard work into this project and the players, members and supporters at Warmsworth CC are now enjoying their new club when watching the lads play on a Saturday and Sunday afternoon. Big thanks go out to everyone that has worked on the project, from everyone at Warmsworth CC.

With the season drawing to a close and the first team pushing for the title of league champions, it would be great to see new faces down at the club on a Saturday afternoon supporting their local team. They have two home fixtures left to play, details of which can be seen below. Let’s give the lads all the encouragement they need to kick on and achieve something great this season.
