I hope you are all well rested and relaxed after your summer holiday. Whether you stayed at home or ventured to foreign lands, I think we can all say we benefited from some lovely weather.
Now with batteries recharged, we head towards the Autumn with lots to look forward to. We have two lucky winners from last month’s St Ledger competition; Sarah Henley from Hatfield and Janine Palin from Scunthorpe. Congratulations to you both, I hope you have a fantastic day and continue with your lucky streak!
I have my own race to contend with soon. I am taking part in the Great North Run on Sunday 7th September with my running partner, Dave Chorlton. I am running for Cancer Research and if you would like to support my charity, you can make a donation by texting MIMI98 and the amount you would like to donate to 70070. Thank you, I will let you know if we made it next month!
I hope you enjoy the photographs in this month’s Arrow from the Auckley Show, the show was a huge success and the weather behaved itself all day! Well done to Neil Woodward, all the committee members, support team and sponsors for providing a fantastic family day out as well as ensuring this local show continues to attract people from all over Doncaster and beyond.
The deadline for the October issue for advertising and articles is Wednesday 17th September. The October Arrow will be delivered by the last weekend in September.
Best Wishes

Chairman’s
Report September 2014 Main Sponsor for 2014 was Another successful Show declared, made possible with the help of our sponsors, who this year increased donations to record levels. I keep saying ‘The Best Turnout Ever’ but it was, the show goes from strength to strength. It is not an easy task to manage so many people and vehicles. Again, where would we have been without the logistics put in place by the young ‘Air Training Corp’ from 1053 Squadron from Armthorpe, big thanks and well done.
All Trade stands and Craft Stalls were fully booked to capacity and to provide a wide range of products and services.
The highlight of the afternoon was the mediaeval displays who put on a fantastic show. The Escafeld Society travelled from Sheffield to entertain us. The ‘Candle Making’ and ‘Living History’ generated lots of interest. Rod Gunn from Doncaster Camera Club was tasked with recording the event, he informs me he has some brilliant photos which will soon be published on our web site www.auckleyshow.co.uk
We tried out a new idea with an outside stage and welcomed a young band ‘Colour Run’ who enjoyed the audience as much as we enjoyed them. A surprise guest was singer Anastasia Walker, what a voice, brilliant!
‘Fun Dog Show’ and ‘Agility Trials’ certainly had fun, with a six deep crowd around the arena.
Children’s sports had extra fun this year with our new committee member Martin Fryer who stepped in at short notice. Martin has promised to introduce a new dimension to the sports in 2015.
The main marquee was soon turned round to accommodate guests for the evening’s entertainment headlined by ‘Look Sharp’ party band who replaced the advertised ‘Fashion Fever’. The numbers were down following last years sixties night that didn’t go down as well as expected. Well we tried something different. This year we were back on track. Fantastic food again provided by Occasions of Epworth couldn’t be faulted. The table reservation system we have employed appeared to work very well. The night ended at 12 midnight with Emily’s Disco’ producing a great atmosphere.
Thanks for all your support, our sponsors and The Auckley Parish Council during the past year. The next Auckley Show date has been set for Saturday 15th August 2015. If you would like to contribute through sponsorship, help out on the day or become a committee member get in touch for further details.
Toilets What about the refurbished toilets didn’t they look good, Auckley Show now own these outright having bought out Epworth Shows 50%. Much better than the ‘Thunder Boxes’ you usually get at local shows. Can we thank our local Farmer Jonathon Toothill who transports these and stores them on his land at no cost; thanks Jonathon your support is very much appreciated. Raffle You may have noticed we didn’t have a raffle this year, why not you ask, there was no one to organise it. We are only a small committee but missed out this year with this fund raiser, if anyone would like to be’ Project Manager’ for the raffle 2015 let me know. Qualification requirements 1.A thick skin. 2 Gift of the gab 3.The proven ability to scrounge. 4. An ability to sell. 5, Enjoy a challenge 6. A little spare time and wish to invest this in our community. Pre Show Events, full results on web site. Finally we welcome feedback on how you feel we can improve, please send an e mail to [email protected] or just give me a call on 01302 770818.
Regards

News From Auckley School Summer Update
I hope this edition finds you all having a relaxing Summer. We had a fun packed end of term at Auckley School. FSU finished their topic with a Bug Ball with pu-pils and staff looking fabulous.
Y6 treated us to an impressive performance of the musical Wicked! which was a fitting way for both Mrs Robinson and Y6 to sign off their time at Auckley as they , along with Miss Jones and Ms Piercy, have been such a wicked team throughout the year, pull-ing off some outstanding results in their SATs. We wish Y6 well as they move on to Hayfield and Hall-cross Academies where I’m sure they will continue to flourish.
To advertise please call 07795 387937 or 01302 534256 17
Unfortunately Louise Robinson is relocating to North Leeds with her husband’s business and it’s with a heavy heart that she is leaving the Auckley team. I’m sure many of you will join me in thanking Louise for her tireless hardwork here over the last 6 years. She will be missed greatly by pupils, parents, staff and governors but we wish Louise good luck in the next chapter of her career….our loss is Leeds’ gain!
Two of our dinnertime staff, Mrs L.Freeman and Mrs J.Weedall also left for pastures new with our best wishes. Our final end of term celebration was the 40th Birthday Picnic which was a resounding success. Thanks to everyone who attended, especially if you were an ex-pupil or parent and I hope you enjoyed your visit and our new facilities. The sun shone down on us and it was a glorious sight to see the balloons released to mark the occasion. I wonder whose balloon travelled the furthest?
