    • Expand inherent ANG Firefighter rescue capabilities to

    include Search & Rescue (SAR)

    • Provide homeland response capability

    • Qualified to Support CST, HRF, CERFP, and FEMA Type - I

    & II SAR Teams

    • Response to All Hazards

    • Provide trained individuals to respond to the incident

    • Develop two, modified Type-III SAR teams in each FEMA region

    • Configured for lighter construction, usually encountered in weather-

    related natural disasters. Teams are organized into four major

    functional elements: search, rescue, technical and medical.

    • Total of 300 ANG Traditional firefighters initially

    • Trained to Technician level for all Search & Rescue competencies

    • Trained to FEMA Structural Collapse technician level

    • Long Term

    • Train all ANG firefighters in SAR

    • Total of 1950+

    • FY14, 1055 ANG FFs trained to the Rescue Technician II level.

    • All FF would be trained to the FEMA structural collapse technician

    level

    • Technical Rescue: The Fire Chief will maintain a

    capability to perform rescues related to the FES

    core missions. This capability may be integrated

    with other functions through cross staffing or

    provided as a stand alone capability.

    confined space, high/low angle, rope rescue,

    search and rescue, vehicle extrication, and water

    rescue.
