Simple Sentence

• A simple sentence contains only one independent clause.

• Ex: I live in Georgia.

Compound Sentence

• A compound sentece has two or more independent clauses.

• I live Stone Mountain, Georgia; Stone Mountain is about forty-five minutes from Atlanta.

Complex Sentence

• A complex sentence contains one independent clause and one dependent clause.

• Do you like Georgia, I do.

Compound-Complex Sentence

• A compound-complex sentence contains at least two independent clauses and at least one dependent clause.

• I live in Georgia, some of my family lives in Georgia, others live in Florida.

Declarative Sentence

• A declarative sentence is used to make a simple statement.

• I live in Georgia

• An interrogative sentence is asking a question.
