The
WAVE
Dear Sea Turtles,I hope you all had a restful and safe Thanksgiving break and were able to enjoy some time with family and friends. For me, I had an amazing time with my family and enjoyed my share of turkey and gravy and sweet potatoes. It was the best!
I’m pleased to announce that Mrs. Jill Hillier will be joining our school as our new Assistant Principal at PVPV. Jill comes to us from Otis Mason Elementary and will be an amazing addition to our school. She will be transitioning over the next week from Mason to PVPV, so please join me in welcoming her. She is super excited to work with our children and our community.
Our PTO will be collecting toys for our Blessings in a Backpack students as well as needy students at our sister school, Otis Mason. We are hoping to collect over 100 toys for children this year and encourage you to give if you are able. This is one of my favorite activities of the year and is a great opportunity to teach our children the blessing of service to others. There are multiple ways to give:
You can send your child into school with a toy. We are collecting unwrapped new toys at PVPV/Rawlings from December 1 - December 7 in the giant bins at the front of both schools.
ORWe have set up a virtual Amazon wish list to support children during the holidays. Order now and the gifts will simply be delivered here at PVPV Rawlings. https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/MC4O7VKHGWIY?ref_=wl_share

Sophie organized a bake sale on Saturday for K9s for Warriors. She baked brownies, chocolate chip cookies and made lemonade from scratch. Neighbor and friend Georgia also joined, baking muffins, sprinkle cookies and dog treats (see pics). Together they had a bake sale in their neighborhood. After a busy 3 hours they raised a whopping total of $638. It was all donated directly to K9s for Warriors. Very proud of the girls!
Florida law prohibits using a handheld “wireless communication device” while operating a vehicle in any school zone, school crossing, or work zone. The definition of a wireless communication device is broad and includes cellphones, tablets, laptops, and similar devices.

We are excited to announce thePVPV/Rawlings Great Books for Readers
Program!
This is a voluntary program for our students who simply love a challenge and who love to read. Research has shown that reading at least 30 minutes per day is correlated with higher student achievement in reading. The Great Books for Readers Program is designed to give students and parents a blueprint of “great books” for their child to read in each grade level. These books are available in our media center. You will find that each grade level list has around 100 books. We are very excited about this program and encourage all of you to participate. Always remember to Work Hard, Be Kind, and Be Awesome!
The goal is for students to read the required number of books on their grade level list to achieve READING SUPERSTARDOM and AWESOMENESS!!! • Students must take the AR quiz to get credit for reading the book. • All reading superstars will have their photo placed in the media center and be invited to attend a special celebration in May.
