Executive Director’s Message: Walking the Walk on our Core Values

Service is a Family Affair

Page 2 McAuley Miracles

At McAuley Ministries, we refer to our core values often. Core values are qualities of primary importance to organizations. They are consistent in an everchanging

Summer meals at McAuley House get hectic: hundreds of hungry people line up for lunch, while vacations mean fewer helpers. That’s when Nicki and Gloria Pisaturo call in the troops—their grandchildren. Most of their combined 18 grand-children have pitched in one time or another. “It’s a labor of love,” Gloria said. The sisters-in-law (their late husbands were brothers) began volunteering at McAuley House 9 years ago. They’ve been called upon to wash dishes, serve lunch, drive the McAuley van for food donations, scrub windows

world and guide decisions made over time. Core values are what an organization stands for. McAuley Ministries’ Core Values are rooted in charity and justice as taught by the gospel and practiced by Catherine McAuley, founder of the Sisters of Mercy Hospitality, Compassion and Respect are the Core Values of McAuley Ministries and are the foundation upon which we work. We talk about our values. But staff and volunteers also walk them: * at McAuley House when they serve hundreds of lunches to our hungry guests with hospitality. * at McAuley Village by helping

homeless mothers and children learn critical family building skills to lead productive and independent lives * at The Warde-robe by pro-viding quality, gently used cloth-ing to a family trying to secure one of life’s basic needs. Supporting McAuley Ministries with time and donations means supporting the most vulnerable with the basics of life; food, shelter and clothing. You are supporting these basic needs with hospitality, compassion and respect. Thank you, we are grateful for your support, it allows us to “walk the walk.” - Don Wolfe

and plan events. “They are the kind of people you know you can turn to help,” said Rev. Mary Margaret Earl, who oversees the House. “We are grateful for them.” They began volunteering after Nicki’s sister-in-law, also a McAuley House volunteer, passed away. Nicki decided she needed to step in to help, and called on Gloria to join her. They faithfully serve meals to hundreds of women, men and children each

Thursday. “Most guests are so grateful,” Nicki said. “It’s like being with family,” Gloria added. “We love it.” (Photo: Nicki Pisaturo, Sam Toth, 11, Anthony Manzi, 17, Charles Pisaturo, 13, Nick Gosselin, 15, and Gloria Pisaturo)
