THANK YOU MR MAC
We appreciate the
wonderful and kind gesture
from our teacher in training,
Mr Mac, who donated two
colourful scooters on the last
day of his practical
experience. Mr Mac joined
with us on the Tour de
Cumnock with Policemen,
Dean and Mitch, to test our
road skills and completed
the timed trials at the oval. Mr Mac has been an outstanding teacher who
will graduate this year and we truly appreciate students who choose to
come further west to make a difference in our difficult to staff schools. All
the best Mr Mac with your final assignments and we look forward to you
returning in Term Four to support our students and staff!
PRIME 7’S TEAM VISIT FOR BIKE SAFETY DAY
Caitlin Donaldson, Prime 7 roving reporter and cameraman Neil captured
some excellent footage of our Bike Safety Day last term. We are indebted
to our local police for supporting our programs and appreciate their
ongoing advice, skill and support. If you missed the Prime 7 footage, you
can view it on our Facebook page.
TOUR DE CUMNOCK
Senior students took to their
bikes and the streets of
Cumnock to test and
showcase their knowledge
and skills riding safely on the
open road. The course
selected was brutal with
puddles, pot holes, mud,
gravel and bitumen to
ensure students were
successful on a range of
surfaces. Congratulations to
Senior Constable Dean who
took out the inaugural
speed time trial competition
around the oval in a
blistering 54 seconds followed closely behind by his colleague Mitch! This
event was a highlight of the completion of our unit in class and we thank
the many parents who brought in bikes to ride at school.

OVERWHELMING FEEDBACK FROM MULLION CREEK STUDENTS AND STAFF
There was a huge amount of laughter and chatter amongst the students from both school groups for our
gathering last term. We thank the students and staff from Mullion Public for their enthusiastic response to
the bike and billy cart trails and joining the many activities on the day. Thank you to the following staff for
their leadership of the following events: Mr Mac for touch footy, Miss Compton for crab soccer, Miss Knight
for the obstacle race and Mrs Hubbard for the ball games! We are looking forward to joining with our
Community of School group for a day of fun athletics events next Thursday at the Cumnock Oval!
CHECK-IN ASSESSMENTS
Well done Year 3 and 5 children who navigated the online check-in assessments last term. The information
captured will support teachers to plan and implement literacy and numeracy programs more specifically
to student needs. On first analysis, students tended to complete the online tasks at speed without reading
the questions carefully. Teachers will be working with students to improve in managing online assessment
tasks particularly with time constraints and how to check their responses with greater care and
consideration.
WELCOME JOHN EDWARD TURNER
Congratulations to Susan and Chris Turner on the birth of their son, John Edward last week. He will be a
special playmate for sisters Laura and Sarah and we are very much looking forward to meeting him at
school in the coming weeks!
INDIGENOUS ACTIVITY DAY AT CUMNOCK
We welcomed Auntie Yvonne, Uncle Cecil, Uncle Alan and Andrew from the Dubbo Aboriginal
Education Office to a day of Indigenous cultural and sporting activities in the last week of term.
Students across all classes had the opportunity to participate in indigenous games, craft, weapons
and tools and storytelling followed by a delicious barbeque lunch. We value the support and
partnership with the Aboriginal Education and Engagement Officers to further our understanding of
the rich and diverse history and culture of our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. We thank
the team for their generous support, enthusiasm and expertise.
STEVTECH DRONE VISIT WITH TRISTAN STEVENTON
Check out these drones that visited Cumnock Public School as part of 5/6 technology unit. Here is a link to

90 HUGE BIRTHDAY CHEERS FOR MRS SPARKES
What a magnificent achievement to celebrate 90 years of life with your
community. Congratulations to Mrs Sparkes, our highly valued and talented special
friend who reached this milestone on Monday 12th October. We were delighted to
wish her the heartiest congratulations at the Cumnock Oval along with students,
pre-schoolers, staff and community residents for a memorable birthday cake and
morning tea. The event was filmed by Prime 7 today, so make sure you tune in this
evening at 6pm. Once again, thank you to Sarah Evans for her outstanding
organisation.
TAJ MAHAL RENOVATIONS AND EXTENSIONS
The chickens have grown immensely over the holiday period. The Girls were thrilled to be relocated to their
new renovated home during the break. A massive big thank you to Mr Whiley and Peg who surprised us all
with their new quarters and chicken run! We are waiting in anticipation for our first eggs to be laid by our
new feathered friends. We would also like to thank Michael and Kathryn Hammond for keeping an eye on
them over the extended holiday.
EXCURSIONS TO WAMBANGALANG
The excursion for K/1/2 will take place this Thursday for all students. Students will be investigating mini
beasts, bugs and building individual worm farms. On Friday, the primary students will head to the centre to
partake in the Low Ropes Course, Dip Netting and try their skill at Archery. Thank you to Maryann Ebsworth
and the team at Wambangalang for organising these excursions for us!
OSSA GOLD COVID CUP ATHLETICS CARNIVAL
We are thrilled to host the inaugural OSSA Gold Covid Cup along with the Infants Tabloid Sports Day next
Thursday 22 October. Thank you to all our staff who will be working tirelessly across the two sites to make
this a special and memorable event for all the children! Parents are encouraged to support the P&C who
are catering for this mammoth occasion!
GIRLS TIMEOUT PROGRAM WITH MRS NELSON
This is a project that Mrs Nelson, our Student Wellbeing Officer, has developed for year 4,5 and 6 female
students at Cumnock. This project will discuss self-esteem, puberty, relationships, healthy exercise and diet,
mental health, whilst incorporating fun activities. It will run for 6 weeks from Week 2.
TRANSITION TO SCHOOL WITH MISS SARAH
Miss Sarah Evans will commence our transition to school program this Friday 16th October and we are
appreciative of the strong connections we have forged with the Cumnock Village Preschool staff over the
years. We are absolutely thrilled to have 6 new students commencing school in 2021 and wish them the
happiest memories during their foray into their primary school journey!

CRAZY HAIR DAY
Students embraced the crazy hair day theme for the last day of term. Thank you for all
the creative and whacky hairdo designs that entered the school gate. Charlie O,
Thomas and Dusty created a Friar Tuck hairstyle for Mr West as well! Congratulations to
all the team for making the last day so much fun. The most popular hairstyle was the
Cupcake and the Mohawk. Great work parents and children!
