Did you know Teacher Appreciation Week is in May? Where would we all be without our
teachers? Teachers are often the most under appreciated, but
most valuable people in our work society. This, of course, includes our school teachers and
the host of others that have had an educational impact on our lives. Here is a brief goal for
everyone reading this newsletter: Thank a Teacher During Teacher Appreciation Week.
The first week of May is traditionally Teacher Appreciation Week. The National Education
Association heads-up the celebration to honor the nation’s public school teachers, but don’t
hesitate to use the opportunity to thank private school teachers as well as other advisors! Of
course small gifts, tokens of appreciation and cards are always appreciated (think practical and
not another apple pin or coffee mug).
Time and time again, when asked, teachers indicate that a personal handwritten thank you
note, drawing or another personal sentiment from the heart is always at the top of their list!
This makes it both affordable and special for everyone involved.
Don’t forget, school isn’t over, summer is still months away so, we need to think about next
year (Can you hear the sighs). Thinking about fall childcare options now? The hunt for childcare
when summer ends has already begun. Believe it or not, in certain areas of the country or at
coveted programs, you may already be too late. - - - Continued on page 3

So, along with planning the end of the school year, writing that special teacher a thank you note, planning parties, thinking about vacations and summer fun, don’t forget to make a plan when the new academic year begins! This plan should include when you’re open and closed, after school pick-up programs, teaching at schools, daycares and school camps. There is a lot to do when ending the academic year and beginning next year!

Family — noun — A group of people united sharing togetherness and
fellowship. Family comes in all shapes and sizes. There are many
families in the world that consist of different people from various
backgrounds. A mother, father, sister and brother are just one unit that
creates a family. However, a friend, teammate, teacher or pets make up a
family unit as well. Anyone who has your best interest can be considered
family. The people in your family care about you and will be there when
no one else will. Parents, teachers, coaches and friends are some of the
world’s greatest listeners and their support is why family is so
important. You don’t have to rely on yourself alone when trying to work
up the strength to get through a situation. Appreciate the bonds that you
have with the people you consider family.
