Thailand is the 24th largest seed exporter in the world and is the 3rd largest exporter in Asia after Japan and China. Rice seed market in Thailand has showcased a considerable growth in the past few years. The rice seeds in the country were to be produced maximum by the local farmers through paddy fields which are mostly not certified as they were only responsible to develop and produce seeds earlier before the inception of private and other rice producing centers. Local farmers were expected to produce around 455 thousand tons of rice in Thailand.
