PRELUDE (Let us prepare our hearts for worship)

CHIMING OF THE HOUR

WELCOME & ANNOUNCEMENTS

CALL TO WORSHIP

One: Come, Lord God, to receive our worship. Come, Lord Jesus, to receive our

praise. Come, Holy Spirit, to receive our thanks. Come, eternal three-in-one

God, come where we are gathered to celebrate our unity as your body, the

church.

All: We share one faith and are of one soul and one mind, which belong

solely and wholly to you.

One: We are baptized with one baptism, eat of one bread and drink of one cup.

All: We confess one name above all other names; we are obedient to one

Lord, who frees us from the tyranny and hatefulness of the world.

One: We share one hope, one comfort, one goal.

All: We are one people, united--despite any noticeable differences--by our

faith in you, Lord Jesus.

One: We are one people, united by your love and mercy to stand against any

power that would try to tear us apart.

All: We are one people, united in blessing and in suffering, united in joy

and in sorrow, united in strength and in weakness. Receive our praise!

Gathering

† HYMN #356 “Come, Thou Font of Every Blessing”

† CALL TO CONFESSION

† PRAYER OF CONFESSION (unison)

God, forgive us. Our communion is not always visible to the world. Sometimes we

allow threats to unity to enter the church, making it hard to see that we are your

community. We act as though we do not need each other. We do not always love one

another. We do not know and bear one another’s burdens. We fail to build each

other up. We do not always give ourselves willingly and joyfully to one another.

Forgive us, and strengthen us so that we may live in the unity that you grant us.

Amen.

(Time of Silent Confession)

† ASSURANCE OF PARDON & PASSING THE PEACE

One: Friends believe the good news of the gospel.

All: In Jesus Christ, we are forgiven.

One: Since God has forgiven us in Christ, let us forgive one another. The

peace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with you all.

All: And also with you.

The Farmers Market is still going strong on Wednesday afternoons! We

actually have some new vendors setting up and have increased traffic each week.

We are seeing beautiful heirloom tomatoes, zucchini, squash, apples, eggplant, salad

greens, baked goods, homemade jams, flowers, and our regular vendors from Mullis

Farms with their meats and Mallory with her goat milk’s soap. Please spread the

word to your friends and let’s help our local farmers. We will keep the market open

thru the fall as long as the vendors have products to sell. If anyone is looking for

fresh greens and wreaths for Christmas, Cindy Spickard is taking orders.

The family of Emmy Lou Pharr would like to thank everyone for their prayers, cards,

words of encouragement and support during this difficult time. We love our Rocky

Responding to the Word

† AFFIRMATION OF FAITH (The Confession of 1967) To be reconciled to God is to be sent into the world as God’s reconciling community. This community, the church universal, is entrusted with God’s message of reconciliation and shares God’s labor of healing the enmities which separate people from God and from each other. Christ has called the church to this mission and given it the gift of the Holy Spirit. The church maintains continuity with the apostles and with Israel by faithful obedience to his call. Amen.

Our Father, who art in heaven, Hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy

forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation,

but deliver us from evil: For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory,

forever. Amen.
