TFF Mission Need

The CD-0 Mission Need approved by the Deputy Administrator for Defense Programs (NA-10) in May 2015

• Maintain the capability to inspect, load, finish, assemble, and package Gas Transfer Systems (GTS).

• Ensure production and scheduled delivery of deuterium and tritium filled reservoirs to the Department of Defense.

• Existing facility (H-Area Old Manufacturing) is 60 years old and has exceeded its expected life

• Cost‒ Cost Range: $305-$640M

FY 2023 – Q1 FY 2024− CD-4, Approve Start of Operations, Q4 FY 2029 - Q4 FY 2031

Project Scope

The TFF project will replace key tritium capabilities in H-Area Old Manufacturing at SRS that support the Limited Life Component Exchange program for Gas Transfer Systems.

Conceptual Design approach to Preferred Alternative: • Building 1: HC-2 nuclear facility• Building 2: Radiological facility (may become HC-3)• CD-3A Long Lead Procurement: mass spectrometer (4-year lead time)

• Site Prep Subproject: Demolition and removal of three warehouses, construction of one warehouse, and relocating existing utilities, roads and fences
