Nowadays, the most recent deaths by road accidents are not caused by drunk driving, but rather, text-driving (inclusive of also Facebooking and calling). To get rid of this social anomic, there are many laws being established to try to prevent distracted driving from happening, although they can’t completely stop it. No matter what age the driver is, under no circumstance should they be texting while driving as texting or using a cell phone while driving as it is very hazardous to yourself and the people surrounding you. Therefore, people who are texting while driving should be jailed as this is putting risk on others, increasing the rate of accidents and it also can be a lesson for them. First, this punishment is a lesson to them so that they would not do that in the future. During the short time in jail, drivers who committed to this crime can reflect on themselves. Through this process, they will learn from their mistake in order to avoid to be jailed again. Besides that, putting them into jail can create awareness to the “parties” to avoid doing like this anymore. Second, texting while driving is putting risk on other people on the road. Not only is texting while behind the wheel bad enough itself, many people comparing the danger level to drunk driving. Driving while intoxicated at the same time is illegal, just as some believe texting while driving should be as well. If people were more aware of how closely related texting while driving and drunk driving are, it would help to inform all drivers on safety behind the wheel. Not only are distracted drivers harming themselves, yet they are putting every other driver on the road in the same dangerous position without realizing it. In the nut shell, people who are texting while driving should be jailed. Texting while driving puts many drivers’ lives in danger daily. It can harm others on the road that is doing nothing other than trying to make it to their destination safely. If people would open their eyes to the dangers of texting while driving, less car accidents would take place every year and the roads would be much safer. Distracted drivers need to know the position they put others in as well as themselves. While behind the wheel, drivers should never direct their attention to their cell phone and should always keep their eyes on the road. It is very disappointing that all these accidents that become a reason for someone death or someone being disabled for the rest of their lives have could totally avoided by nothing but a little accountability and caution, when you are driving.
