TRANSCRIPT
What a convention!
I hope everyone will take a moment over the next few weeks to thank Scott Gillen and his committee for the wonderful job they did in San Antonio last month. With over 400 in attendance, it was clearly our best convention in years. I don’t think anyone left the Alamo city without thinking the TMBA is clearly the voice of the mortgage industry in Texas.
I also want to take a moment to thank John Watson for his leadership and wisdom over the last year. When you see the hundreds of hours John put in on behalf of the TMBA, you quickly see why John has the respect of everyone in the industry. John, you have left quite the shadow for all of us.
As we look towards the future, it’s important to remember that nothing happens by chance in the mortgage industry - especially when it comes to the Legislature. As you know, those 181 members come back to Austin in just over six months. Without question, one of the most important things you can do to support the TMBA and YOUR business is to contribute to the TMBPAC today.
I have asked Mary Pirrello to lead this project for us. Our successful efforts to protect our industry and our livelihoods are more dependent than ever on everyone’s participation. Please reach out to me or Mary with any questions or suggestions you may have regarding the TMBPAC.
I also want to urge you to get to know your own state representatives and senators. These dedicated individuals are very concerned about their constituencies and your individual voice will make our collective voice all the more powerful.
In addition to supporting the PAC and the legislative process, I hope the entire membership will assist Amy Coke and the Membership Committee by finding just one new member over the next 11 months. Both the political influence and the financial strength of our organization are dependent on a large and active membership, and your help is needed and appreciated.
It is my hope that our entire membership will get behind our efforts. This is going to be a great year for the TMBA. I hope you will join us for the ride.
Sincerely,Scott Norman2010.2011 TMBA President
PS - Don’t forget to mark your calendars for Reverse Mortgage Day scheduled for August 3rd in Dallas. Committee Co-Chairs Mike Suits and David Cook and their committee have put together a great program.
