Dear Saddlebred Enthusiast:

It’s that time of year again! I have enclosed the nomination form for the American Saddlebred Futurity of New York. Please note the due dates very carefully. All nominations, with the exception of the weanlings, are dueby May 15, 2009

Any horse that hopes to show in any of the futurity classes in 2009 and beyond are required to complete and return a nomination form in order to maintain their eligibility.

Please note that stallions and mares are only nominated for weanlings-not again for yearlings, two-year olds or three-year olds. If you are not sure if your foal’s stallion has been nominated, you can either check with the stallion’s owner or nominate the stallion yourself. If the stallion has already been nominated, you will receive your fee back.

It has been decided to change the format of the NYS Futurity back to its original form. That is, the mare and stallion need to be nominated during the foal’s weanling year. The resulting foal must be nominated as a weanling, yearling, 2yr old and 3yr old. Weanlings will not show. All others will show at the Syracuse International. 3yr olds will show in Park Pleasure and all others will show in hand. As a result of several members’ input this change was made.

Checks should be made payable to the American Saddlebred Futurity of New York and mailed to me at the address above. Please make sure to include a completed nomination form.

YEARLING OWNERS- please include a copy of the yearling’s registration papers.

GENERAL PROVISIONS

Nomination of Sire. To nominate a stallion in this futurity, it is necessary: (1) That the stallion be registered with The American Saddlebred Registry and (2) that a fee of $50.00 be paid to the Futurity on or before May 10 of the year the foal is born. Sires must be nominated each year that a foal is expected.

Nomination of Dam. To nominate a mare in this futurity, it is necessary: (1) That the mare be registered with The American Saddlebred Registry and (2) that a fee of $15.00 be paid to the Futurity on or before May 10 of the year in which the foal is born. Dams must be nominated each year that a foal is expected.

Eligibility. All foals must be the produce of stallions and mares that have previously been nominated in The American Saddlebred Horse Futurity of New York State.

Divisions: The Futurity will consist of three divisions; Yearling In Hand, Two-Year-Old In Hand, and Three-Year-Old Park Pleasure.

Weanling Requirements. The following conditions must be complied with to make a foal eligible to show in the yearling year: 1. The Sire and Dam must be nominated to the Futurity in the year in which the foal is born. 2. All foals must be registered (or application received in the American Saddlebred Registry office) by December 31 of the

foaling year. Pending applications (including DNA testing) must be completed before March 31 of the yearling year to continue eligibility.

3. $30.00 must be paid to the Futurity on or before July 15 of the year the foal is born.

Yearling Division. To make a colt, filly or gelding eligible to show in the Yearling Division, the following conditions must be complied with: 1. The yearling must have been nominated as a weanling, and all conditions and requirements must have been fulfilled. 2. $30.00 must be paid to the Futurity on or before April 15 of the year the entry becomes a yearling. Proof of registration

must accompany this payment.HOW SHOWN:. Yearlings will be shown In Hand. Fillies and colts will compete together when there are twenty or more eligible horses in which case they will compete in separate classes with Prize Money for the Division being equally divided between the two classes. Snaffle bits are permitted. Set tails and curb bits are prohibited. The use of artificial appliances or devices on yearlings such as (but not limited to) chains, shackles, rubber bands, blindfolds or full cup blinkers is prohibited on the grounds before or during the show. Any entry with prohibited equipment must be disqualified from further competition and shall forfeit all entry fees and winnings. Blinker hoods with half cups mounted in the vertical position so as to allow forward vision are allowed to be used on yearlings. Bustles are permitted on yearlings.

Two-Year-Old Division. To make a colt, filly or gelding eligible to show in the Two-Year-Old Division, the following conditions must be complied with:

1. The two-year-old must have been nominated as a weanling, and all conditions and requirements for a weanling and yearling must have been fulfilled.

2. $30.00 must be paid to the Futurity on or before April 15 of the year the entry becomes a two-year-old. HOW SHOWN: Two-Year-Olds will be shown In Hand. Set tails and curb bits are permitted.

Three-Year-Old Division. To make a colt, filly or gelding eligible to show in the Three-Year-Old Division, the following conditions must be complied with:

1. The three-year-old must have been nominated as a weanling, and all conditions and requirements for a weanling, yearling, and two-year-old must have been fulfilled.

2. $30.00 must be paid to the Futurity on or before April 15 of the year the entry becomes a three-year-old.HOW SHOWN: Three-Year-Olds will be shown in Park Pleasure.

Distribution of Prize Fund: In each division, the winner will receive 50% of the Prize Fund of that Division, second 25%, third 15% and fourth 10%. The nominator of the dam of the winning foal in the Yearling Division will receive $50.00 and the nominator of the dam of the second place yearling will receive $25.00. The nominator of the sire of the winning foal in the Yearling Division willreceive $50.00 and the nominator of the sire of the second place yearling will receive $25.00. In the event the Yearling Division is split, duplicate prizes will be awarded to the nominators of the sires and dams. The value of the Prize Fund will be the total amount of money paid in fees and donations to the Futurity less costs of trophies, ribbons and administrative costs. Each year related costs and specific awards to the nominators of the sires and dams will be deducted before the division of the Prize Fund among the regular Divisions of the Futurity. The total Prize Fund will be equally divided among all sections.

Payment of Fees: All checks should be made payable to The American Saddlebred Horse Futurity of New York State and sent to the Secretary. There will be a $15.00 fee on all returned checks. Canadian checks must be marked U.S. Funds.

Liability: All entries in this Futurity agree to abide by the rules of this Futurity and in the event of a dispute, agree to abide by the decision of the Board of Directors of The American Saddlebred Horse Association of New York State, Inc. The Board reserves theright to reject any entry and bar any entry from competition for failure to comply with the conditions of the Futurity. The Boardreserves the right to alter the provisions of this Futurity with sufficient notice to participants should circumstances indicate such alterations are in the best interest of the Futurity.

Where Shown: The Yearling, Two-Year-Old, and Three-Year-Old Divisions will be shown at the Syracuse International.

By entering a Federation-licensed Competition and signing this entry blank as the Owner, Lessee, Trainer, Manager, Agent, Coach, Driver, Rider, Handler, Vaulter orLongeur and on behalf of myself and my principals, representatives, employees and agents, I agree that I am subject to the Bylaws and Rules of The United StatesEquestrian Federation, Inc. (the “Federation”) and the local rules of the competition. I agree to be bound by the Bylaws and Rules of the Federation and of the competition.I will accept as final the decision of the Hearing Committee on any question arising under the Rules, and agree to release and hold harmless the competition, theFederation, their officials, directors and employees for any action taken under the Rules. National Show Horse DivisionHorsesmustberegisteredwiththeNationalShowRegistryatthetimeofentryismade.Horseownersarerequiredtoprovideshowmanagementwithproofof NSH registration. A copy of the official NSHR Certificate of Registration or Confirmation Letter must accompany the entry before the horse is allowed to show.Pendingregistrationswillnotbeaccepted.Effective March, 1 2003 a Junior Horse age is 5 years and under.

Please note: Effective April 1, 2006, riders, drivers, handlers, trainers and at leat one owner must be mumbers of the National Show Horse Registry to show in National Show Horse classes on the Local, District and Finals levels. Membershipapplicationswillbeavailableattheshow.

District II Championship Classes will be judged by three judges, utilizing a 3 Judge scoring system. NSHR rules require that a horse placing first on two judges’cardswillbeawardedtheChampionshiphonors.

No qualification is required for District II Championship classes. Give your foals a lifetime of eligibility for Grand National prize money as ASRGN recorded show horses. For a one-time only fee of $250, your 2009 foals (sired by an ASRGN Nominated Sire) will have lifetime eli-gibility to win Grand National prize money in any division, at any age, wherever ASRGN classes are held. ASRGN recording is transferable to subsequent owners without payment of additional fees.

The only other requirement for participation in American Saddlebred Registry Grand National is membership in the American Saddlebred Horse Association. All owners, original recorders, and stallion nomina-tors must be current members of ASHA prior to the competition to receive prize money.
