An impressive organizing machine has worked for a year to organize a perfect event, and the results are visible to everybody: the third edition of “Terre di Canossa International ClassicCar Challenge”, which took place from 18 to 21 April, was a hit and achieved widespread success.

The RaceThe 70 time trials spiced up the challenge for the crews. All the trials were quite difficult and different from each other: long and short, linear and in city squares, uphill and downhill, some were on a bend and some were hidden, some were “impossible”, like the ones amid the mist on the Mount Serra, some were fascinating, like the ones of the Canossa Castles, which formed the Eberhard Champion Trophy section of the event, and some were exclusive, like the ones in front of the yachts inside the Benetti shipyard. The awards ceremony took place in Reggio Emilia, inside the historical Sala del Tricolore, where the National flag was chosen in 1797 in the presence of the Authorities.

Terre di Canossa first leg: Friday, 19 April 2013. On the most beautiful passesThe best Italian landscapes are the setting of the Grand Prix Terre di Canossa.Presented to the public in Salsomaggiore Terme by Savina Confaloni, the beautiful “four-wheeled works of art” officially start the rally in Reggio Emilia with the first group of time trials, the Eberhard Champion Trophy, which takes place in the heart of the Canossa Lands, in front of its castles. There are many top drivers, who start a challenge among gentleman drivers right away.Escorted by the Polizia Stradale as usual, the crews marry time checks and gnocco fritto in Quattro Castella, reach Castelnovo Monti and, after a due passage at the feet of the Pietra diBismantova, the symbol of our Apennines, stop for lunch in Ligonchio at the Rifugio dell’Aquila, where the Sacchini family interprets the qualities of a good life as being welcoming andloving their region. The route curls along the charming roads of the Tosco-Emilian Apennines, inhabited by both animals and men, which coexist in harmony, with sustainable development in mind.On the ridge of Passo di Pradarena, the highest pass of the northern Apennines, the crews have the privilege of crossing the climatic border between continental and Mediterraneanclimate. Beech trees, gentle slopes and forage fields for the production of Parmigiano Reggiano in the former, chestnuts, olive trees and emmer in the latter. The sun shines above the Passo del Vestito to better adorn the first day of the rally, and makes the participants feel emotions that will remain impressed forever in their memories. With its typical medieval hamlets, called rioni, the green Garfagnana welcomes the crews at the feet of the Apuane Alps, which eye the sea of Versilia, ready to spoil the participants. The Capannina di Franceschi in Forte dei Marmi livens up the first Versilian night of Terre di Canossa with its dinner and live music, as always. Savina Confaloni presents the cars and the “heroes” to the public, whoenthusiastically admires the exclusive parterre. The well deserved final lunch is held in the halls of the Circolo del Casino, and finally the awards ceremony of this third edition of Terre di Canossa takes place, as usual, inside thehistorical Sala del Tricolore, where the “Tricolore” was chosen as the National flag on 7 January 1797.After more than 630 kilometres, the tough international classic cars regularity rally ends in the heart of Reggio Emilia. The mood livens up when the crews reach Piazza del Duomo in Reggio Emilia, where a thick crowd awaits the incredible parade.Cars, country, history, gastronomy and art.
