FreeTrialCourses

OneofthebenefitsofdoingaFreeTrialCoursewithusisthereareabsolutelynoobligationstodoanything,suchasthemock-uptutorial,ifthestudentdonotwish

tothemitis,afterall,freetouseatthestudentsownwishes!

However,ifastudentisagenuineandpotentialstudentwithBSLcourses.co.uk,we

wouldunderstandthatthatstudentmaywanttotryoutthemock-uptutorialsothat

theyknowhowourcoursesarerun.Onceatutorialhasbeenbooked,weaskthatstudentsrespecttheirtutorialbookingandattendit,iftheycanafterall,itisareal

tutorwaitingontheothersideofSkypecommittingtocompletethetutorialwiththestudent.

Allofourcoursesrequirestudentstocompletetheirtutorialstoreceivemorevideo

classesintheirstudentaccountand,wherenecessary,topreparethemforthee-

assessments/NVQevidencecollectionandgainqualification.

Shouldastudentfailtoattendanytutorial,attheinitialdateandtimeselectedbythestudent,andfailuretoinformthetutor48hoursbeforehandthatthey

cannotattend,theywilllosethetutorialaltogether.

Or,shouldthestudentdecidethemissingtutorialisrequired,theymayfacepaying

anadministrationfeeformakingsuchrearrangements(seeAdministrationfees,

below).

Videoclasses,scheduledaftertutorials,cannotbereleasedintothestudentscourseoverviewuntilthetutorhasuploadedthetutorialclipintothestudentscourse

overview.Itisthestudentsresponsibilitytocompletetutorials,justasitisin

anormalclassroomenvironment,forfurtherprogressiononthecourse.

Otherwise,itisthestudentsagreementinwriting(email)totheirtutorthattheydo

notwishtocompletethemissedtutorialwherebythenextvideoclasseswillbe

released,despitethismethodbeinghighlyadvisedagainstandthat,withouttheadvise/feedbackfromourtutors/assessorsandpracticethereof,itwouldmorelikelyhinderthestudentsdevelopmenttowardqualification(wherenecessary).

TutorialClips

zipfileformat).Threemonthsafterthecourseiscomplete,thetutorialclipsarepermanentlyremovedfromthestudentaccount.

StudentAccount

Itisthestudentsresponsibilitytomaintaintheirdetailsintheirstudentaccount

andkeepthemuptodate.Itisimportanttohaveacorrectemailaddressallthroughoutthedurationoftheircourseasthisisrequiredtocommunicatewith

theirtutor/assessor.

CourseStructure

EachWeekisa7-dayperiod,allowingaccesstovideoclassesinthestudentaccountorduringwhichatutorialistobearranged,untilthenextWeekistriggeredtostart

(pleasenotethataWeekisnotadeadlinebutratheragoalforstudentstoachieve).

Forexample,mostcourses,inWeek1,willhavetheIntroductionvideoandthefirst

videoclassreleasedinthestudentAccountforthestudenttowatchandpracticewithfor7daysuntilitisthentimeforthemtoarrangeawebcamtutorialwiththeir

tutorsometimeduringWeek2seeimage,above.

Oncethetutorialhasbeencompleted,thetutorwilluploadtherecordedtutorialclipontothestudentaccountinwhichitwilltriggerWeek3tostartasscheduled.This

willcontinueinthesamefashionuntiltheendofthecourse.

AsWeeksarenotdeadlines,thismeansallthewhilethestudentdoesnotbookatutorialduringthetutorialweek,thatweekwillcontinueextendinguntilthetutorial

iseventuallybookedandcompleted.Pleasenote:thestartofanewweekisstillon

theenrolmentdaythereforeifthetutorialwascompletedafteritsinitial7-dayperiod,thereleaseofthefollowingweeksvideoclipswouldstillbeonthefollowing

enrolmentday.Forexample,iftheenrolmentdaywas14thJanuary,usingtheabovecalendarimage,andWeek2stutorialwascompletedon29thJanuary,9daysinto

Week2,thismeansthevideoclassesinWeek3willbereleasedon4thFebruary.To

ensuresmoothprogressionandconsistentreleasesonnewWeeksandtheirvideoclasses,etc,itisrecommendedtocompletethetutorialduringitsscheduledWeek.It

isthestudentsresponsibilitytokeeptrackoftheirdevelopmentandbemindfulof

theirWeeksendingandstarting.

AtutorialandmultiplevideoclassesarescheduledtohappenEVERYweek.Thecoursestructureisdesignedtoallowstudentstogetonwiththecourseby

squeezingthecoursecontentsoveratimethatismorethanhalfofthatofa

classroom-basedequivalentbutalsocoveringthesame,ifnotmore,coursematerial.

NVQevidencecollection

Onceastudentcollectsthefirstevidenceclipfortheirportfolio,thestudent

automaticallyhas18(eighteen)monthstocompleteandsubmittheirportfolio.

Thismeansafter18monthshaspassedfromthedateoftheirfirstevidenceclipandthattheyhavenotyetsubmittedtheirportfolio,thatfirstclipbecomesinvalid.Thiswouldrequirethestudenttocollectanewevidencecliptoreplacetheinvalidclip

andwouldincuranadditionalfeetocoverfortheassessorstimeforplanningandfeedbackpurposesofthenewevidencestobecollected(pleaseseethe

Administrationfeestable).

Pleasenote:itisimportanttoreadandunderstandALLofSignaturesQualification

SpecificationforeitherNVQcoursesforsmoothprogressionofthecourseand

developmentoftheportfolio.OurassessorsareexpertsoftheNVQframeworkandwouldguidethestudentthroughthewholeprocess.
