WHAT’S HAPPENING AT KPS POSITIVE BEHAVIOUR FOR LEARNING
During our lining up assemblies, students have been encouraged to acknowledge other students who have been following school rules and playing respectfully, responsibly and safely. This has had a positive impact on student behaviours and has created more positive relationships among the students. We are continuing with these acknowledgments this term as well.
MARKET DAY — SAVE THE DATE
Kemblawarra Public School’s annual Market Day is on Wednesday 6 November. Market Day starts at approximately 11.40am and parents are welcome to attend. Students are asked to bring in money to their teachers prior to the day. This will allow for coupons to be allocated on the day. There is a maxi-mum of $25 per student.
All of the senior students will be running individual stalls in addition to a sausage sizzle, face painting, a
petting zoo and an entertainer.
60TH BIRTHDAY ASSEMBLY This year Kemblawarra Public School turns 60!!! On Wednesday 6, November (Market Day) there will be a short celebratory assembly with visitors from the local community attending and performing. There will be a selection of short items commemorating the occasion. The assembly starts at 11am and will be followed by the Market Day activities.
There will be a Lucky Door Prize drawn for one of our parents / community members who attend the assembly.
YEAR 5'S - SELECTIVE HIGH SCHOOL ENTRY FOR 2021
Selective high schools cater for academically high potential and gifted students who may otherwise be without sufficient classmates of their own academic standard. Selective schools help these students to learn by grouping them with students of similar ability, using specialised teaching methods and materials.
Selective high schools are unzoned so parents can apply regardless of where they live. Applications for selective
high school placement are considered mainly on the basis of the Selective High School Placement Test results and
school assessment scores. The Selective High School Placement Test will be held on Thursday 12 March 2020.
If you would like to have your child considered for Year 7 selective high school entry in 2021, you need to apply on
the internet using a valid email address (not the student’s email address).
Detailed instructions on how to apply online will be available from late-September 2019 at https:// educa-
tion.nsw.gov.au/public-schools/selective-high-schools-and-opportunity-classes/year-7.
The application website opens at that link on 8 October 2019 and closes at 10pm on 11 November 2019. You must
apply before the closing date.

CRUNCH & SIP TIPS
include vegetables slices with cheese &
crackers
top English muffins with chopped tomato,
capsicum and ham, sprinkle with grated re-
duced-fat cheese and heat in the oven or grill
serve vegetable sticks with salsa
vegetable-based soup makes a great
snack on cold afternoons
cooked 2-miinute noodles mixed with grat-
ed zucchini and chopped tomatoes and top
with grated reduced-fat cheese.
Some interesting vegetable facts
Frozen vegetables are usually snapped frozen
on ripening and can have the same nutritional
value as fresh vegetables. Try to include differ-
ent vegetables everyday.
Different coloured vegetables provide different
vitamins and other nutrients. Eating enough
vegetables can protect you against many life-
style diseases including heart disease, stroke,
some cancers and diabetes.
ATTENDANCE EXPLANATION OF ABSENCES
If your child is absent from school, parents are required to provide an explanation for the absences
within 7 days.
When a student returns to school after an absence, they must bring a note from their parent/carer,
explaining the absence and provide it to their class teacher.
Alternatively, parents can explain an absence via the Skool Loop app under the ’Absentee’ icon. This can
be done on the day of the absence or upon returning to school.
