My favourite speakers of course were Louis and Arlo who presented themselves most admirably, with Louis being runner up in the Stage 3 section. I then paid a visit to the Trinity pool where I witnessed the fantastic improvements in our participating students. The Austswim teachers commented that they were the most polite, happy and cooperative students they had taught. I would particularly like to thank all parent volunteers who gave up their time to assist over the two week program; as always much appreciated. A fabulous way to end the school week!! In order to do this they ask that donated items be given to each class to build a ‘Wishing Tree’.

Please ensure items are non-perishable and not out of date. If presents are wrapped for children, please indicate appropriate age and gender.

Please have all donations at school before Wednesday 12th December to support this worthy cause.

On Friday, the robotics groups attended the SCU “Robo Cup Junior Challenge”. The students attended a workshop on how to program the EV3’s and then divided into two teams, whereby they competed in two separate competitions, being the “dancing robot” and “sumo”.

The boy’s group competed in the “sumo” challenge and were narrowly defeated in the knockout round.

The girl’s team competed in the “dancing robot” challenge, where they programed their robot Comet to dance the salsa. The girls did extremely well and were finally placed second to a high school team. We were the only primary school to gain place!!

As you can see by the photos the students absolutely loved the experience and showed great aptitude for robotics. We look forward to attending next year.

The robotics group and I would like to say thank you to the James family who sold raffle tickets at Eltham over four weekends, raising a total of $800.00 which is going towards purchasing new robots to extend our robotics club.
