A Message From Our Deputy PrincipalSchools across NSW have now begun their managed return to face-to-face learning. It has been wonderful to see many of our students again this week and it has been a delight to watch them playing and learning happily at school. We understand that there are many families who are continuing to support their child to learn from home during this phase, and our teachers will continue to provide learning for our students across all settings.

I would like to thank the P&C and all our families who have been so supportive of our staff during recent times. It was a dramatic change to the way we teach and run our school which came upon us very quickly, and your flexibility and your encouragement made a huge difference.

I would also like to thank you all for the enormous effort that you have put into your child’s learning at home. Like us, this was a dramatic change to your role in a very short time and you all deserve a huge pat on the back!

The current roster system where students are on site one day per week will be continuing until we receive the next announcement from our Premier. We are continuing to use a house-based roster, but no child will be turned away (unless they are unwell).

Please remember, even though your child’s teacher is not on site everyday they are still available as they are working remotely to support the students learning from home. You can still make contact via Class Dojo or leaving a message with the school office.

Together our families, children and staff have all risen to the challenge of change during an uncertain time and I couldn’t be prouder to be part of this school. I will keep you up to date as things progress. Take care of yourself, and your families.

Learning From Home - Infants Support ClassThe students in the Infants Support Class have been working really hard from home. They have engaged with a range of technology and learned many new skills along the way. A special mention also to all

parents and carers, who have done a wonderful job in facilitating their child’s learning.

K-2 Remote LearningKM While this wasn’t the ideal way for our Kindergarten students to begin their first year at school, I am so proud of the way everyone in KM adapted to the changes. Lots of fantastic work has been handed in and students have applied the feedback that I have given them. I have seen some excellent reading on the PM online website! Students have taken the beginning reading skills they had learnt in class and have applied them in their reading at home. In Maths, students have used their imagination to collect items from around the house and enjoyed going on a backyard scavenger hunt when learning about addition and subtraction. Students in KM produced some incredible work and I would like to say a massive thank you to all the parents and grandparents for your hard work and dedication to your child’s learning. It is so appreciated- thank you!

Miss Mason

K/1B K/1B have been amazing while they have been learning at home. We all had to adapt so fast, particularly for our gorgeous Kindergarten students who had just gotten used to coming to school each day. Parents, you have been amazing in supporting your child’s learning at home. Each day students have been sending in photos and videos of their work through Class Dojo. The work that students have completed is fantastic and I am so very impressed and proud of all my students. I have to admit though, my favourite thing is the videos the kids send through!! This makes me smile each day.

Mrs Britt

1G 1G have been absolute superstars working at home and I have been so impressed with their effort and application to all set tasks. I have been receiving lots of quality work via 1G’s Class Dojo portfolios. It has been wonderful to hear 1G students reading and seeing their proud, smiley faces in photos. I love how 1G families have used this time to incorporate lots of fun and engaging learning opportunities at home. I have seen photos of students helping with cooking, gardening, exercising and even a student paddling a kayak in their pool! I would like to take this opportunity to thank 1G parents for their ongoing assistance and support during this time. It has been much appreciated, thank you! Ms Goldie

1/2R Over the past few weeks, 1/2R have been super busy learning at home with their families. They have been sending in a variety of work samples every day for Mrs Fisher and Mrs Raccani-Hewitt to see and to provide feedback. What incredible work we have seen! We have witnessed creativity flourish with dinosaur dioramas, students challenging themselves whilst doing some AMAZING writing, heard some wonderful reading and have even enjoyed some videos of clever counting! A huge thank you to all our amazing families for encouraging their children to challenge themselves with the activities set for each day, and for taking the time to send through the work samples. You are all doing a fabulous job! We have missed you all and cannot wait to see 1/2R back in the classroom together again.

2S Wow! What a learning curve this last few weeks have been. I would firstly like to thank the 2S parents and caregivers for your support and patience through this period. It has been fantastic to see the quality work that your children have been producing. I know that is reflective of the support, guidance and help you have been giving them at home. I understand that this has been difficult at times, fitting in with other commitments that fill our daily lives, but it has demonstrated your commitment to your child’s education. I look forward to when 2S can be back in the classroom re-establishing the wonderful class that we are. Stay safe and warm!

Thanking you,

Mr Scriven

2T We have been journeying through unprecedent times over the past few weeks, and it has been a difficult time for many of our families. In spite of this, I could not be more impressed with the hard work and effort that our 2T students have committed themselves to in their learning. From learning about multiplication and division, through to exploring different writing techniques and sentence structure, many of our students have demonstrated a commitment to ongoing learning that deserves recognition. A big thank you to our wonderful parents for their amazing support to your children and to us teachers. You are all wonderful and it is a joy to be working together to see the best for our students. I look forward to finally being able to see you all face to face again soon.

International Women’s DayThis Year’s International Women’s Day was held on the 8th of March. The theme was: ‘I am generation Equality- Realising Women’s Rights’.

Celebrating women’s achievements and increasing visibility, while calling out inequality, is key. Ways we can forge ahead with equality include: applauding equality for female athletes, building inclusive workplaces and schools so women thrive, empowering women through health education and also championing women leading technology innovation.

In our Primary assembly at Wadalba we discussed women and girls following their dreams. We looked at many examples of women in aviation, technology and activism. It is important we encourage our young women and girls to work towards their life goals, whatever they may be.

A gender equal world can be healthier, wealthier and more harmonious - so what’s not great about that?
