Gold AwardsWe are beginning to prepare for our end of year presentation.

If your child is due to receive their Gold Award please let me know by Friday November 13th as these medals need to be engraved. To receive their gold award a student must have:

- 3 silver awards

- have taken part in one extra-curricular activity at some stage over their schooling

- have completed some kind of community service (such as clean up Australia day, Peer support, kinder buddy etc).

Unfortunately we are still unsure whether parents will be able to attend this event, but if this is still prohibited we will be ensuring that families all have access to photos of the event.

In The Classroom With 2SWe have a busy term ahead of us to end the year that is going to be productive and enjoyable. I would like to acknowledge all of the hard work that students, parents and caregivers have put into this crazy year. Your efforts are greatly appreciated and is a reflection of your commitment to your child’s education.

Students have been working hard throughout the year to improve their reading and writing. This has been achieved through various daily literacy activities and the enthusiastic approach to our Home Reading Program.

In Maths, 2S have been working on some complex addition and subtraction questions, which require carrying and trading. 2S also have been enjoying our weekly game of ‘Who Wants to be a Millionaire?,’ which is based on the maths topic for the week.

2S were able to visit Miss Rolfe in her art class every fortnight in Term 3. Students learnt about numerous artistic techniques and were able to produce some very impressive pieces of art.

In Science, 2S worked with Miss Kennedy in exploring different properties of objects in the unit Bend it, Stretch it! Students were able to complete a variety of science experiments to develop their knowledge and understandings.

In Sport and Physical Education we have another busy term ahead. 2S will begin their cricket lessons this week, learning important skills such as throwing and catching.

2S has been developing their rhythm and timing with Miss Green during weekly lessons. Miss Green has identified a few potential musicians in 2S.

I look forward to ending this year off with the wonderful 2S and the pleasure that they are to teach.

Tom Scriven

1/2R Poetry Our PicturesDebatingThis year the Wadalba Stage Three debating team has reached new heights. With hard work and dedication, we have been able to successfully reach the STATE level. This is the first time Wadalba Community School has accomplished this.

We are very proud of ourselves and will continue to work hard in the future in order to get as far as we can. This year, the competition started with 666 teams across NSW and we are one of only 64 teams left in the competition! Although us debaters have worked hard, our debating teacher, Ms. Snell has always been there to help and guide us. We definitely owe her our thanks.

Last week, we had our first Round 2 State Debate but unfortunately, it had to be postponed due to an emergency lockdown. Although it was quite alarming, we felt very safe with all the teachers comforting us.

On Thursday in week 2, as a result of the previous events we tried again. Our topic was that in Primary we should have feedback instead of grades and marks. With lots of perseverance, we were able to win the debate and we are now going to Round 3 of state in Week 4!

We all love debating and we are extremely lucky to have Ms. Snell as our debating teacher. Thank you.

1/2R Our Pictures At The FarmNgara Message StickLast week the Ngara Message Stick has made its way to Wadalba Community School.

The tradition of the message stick goes way back in Aboriginal culture and history and we are honoured to bring this proud tradition back into current times.

Each year, the message stick travels to all of the schools in the Ngara AECG as it makes its way to Wyong High School for the Ngara Assembly of Excellence in Term 4.

Here, it will be handed back to the Ngara AECG representatives for safe keeping until the next year, when it starts another journey.

The message we pass on is around celebration, always moving forward and working together.

1/2R Our Pictures At The Farm ContinuedGenius HourGenius Hour is a chance for students in Years 3-6 to research an area of their own choice, culminating in a final project that is shared with their peers and teachers. Teachers from both Primary and High School are there to assist only, with students being the drivers of their learning.

Students have now wrapped up another year of Genius Hour with their final showcase last week. We are so proud of the students’ determination and what they have been able to achieve this year.
