YEAR 7 TECHNOLOGY

FELTING Year 7 students have been exploring the proper es of wool as they prepare alpaca and woollen fleece for fel ng. Students are involved in a 3 step process where the fibres are straightened using the carders and dog brushes. They then make a mat of 3 layers of fibres which is rolled in net, bubble wrap and finally a towel. This “sausage roll” is then washed in warm soapy water and massaged ll the fibres form a felted structure. Eventually, each student will have their own hand‐felted heat bag.
