* Promote the use of H1N1 Communication Posters (to be posted inside tenants permieter). The use of hand and respiratory hygiene posters (french and english) are encouraged to be used and posted by tenants for their employees, contractors & visitors.

C. Contractors / Visitors:* Encourage to use of Purell Hand Sanitizing Stations across VSL

H1N1 Pandemic Response Plan-Result of Avian Flu crisis in 2002; now being applied for H1N1 risks via MDS PS Pandemic Planning & Actions- Based on World Health Organization (WHO) recommendations- 6 Phases; WHO announced raising level to Phase 6 (May 2009)

-Phase 6 sustained spread through various global regions (May June 2009). No rationale for travel restrictions at this time.

HR Policy for Infectious Diseases-EPIDEMIOLOGY: H1N1 Survives on uncleaned surfaces for about 8 hrs. (Source: CDC)

-Tenants / Contractors / Visitors are encouraged to use hand sanitizing stations across VSL

Nov 10, 2009 UPDATE – There are no travel restrictions with WHO, Health Canada and WHO (Nov 2009) at this time for MDS PS Employees. This policy would only apply when the Governance is assumed by the regulator for the general public and then a decision is made by MDS PS EHS BC & HRCorporate. Lloyd Hillier and Cam Hicks.

VSL Actions / Communication Updates

Immediate (suggestions for tenants only):

1.       Promote awareness to all employees - hand & respiratory hygiene posters (examples in preso)2.       Encourage all employees who are sick to stay home. (H1N1 PREVENTION)3.      Work with facilities to provide hand sanitizer dispensers (COMPLETED) main traffic areas only.4.       Ensure site communicating to all employees in an emergency.(Tenants will be advised)5.       Employee who has an MDS laptop computer take it home end of day. (MANDATORY UNDER BCP MDS PS employees and suggested for tenants)6.      Replacement for handshake; minimize skin-to-skin contact. (VIA HAND HYGIENE POSTER)

Summary and Next Steps

H1N1 Actions Summary: MDS leading company wide efforts and communication (VSL Actions)• HR Policy on infectious diseases issued May 1, 2009 (No travel restrictions at this time)• Information posted on MYMDS• PS sites have Business Continuity Teams (as per Nov 4, 2009 meeting)• PS has an approved Pandemic Response Plan (Feb 2009)• H1N1 Flu epidemic has been raised to Level 6 by WHO (May 2009)• Advisories issued to BCT to prepare in event of Pandemic Level 6 – Sustained 2009 / 2010 period

Next Steps:1. Update Pandemic Plan – Actions for tenants, contractors & visitors

* Tenants to provide (H1N1 Representative: Names, Contact info, alternates) – similar to ERP roles.* Contractors / visitors are encouraged to practice hand and respiratory hygiene

2. EHS&BC to monitor status, liaison with corporate and provide direction toMDS PS VSL site, tenants, contractors and visitors

3. H1N1 Communications will be communicated to all (MDS employees,tenants, contractors, visitors).
