2016 – 2018 GOALS: LIVE OUR SH’MA & SUSTAINABILITY

• Enhancing the connection of adults to Judaism, Isaiah, and one another with a targeted focus on those without children in the home.

• Developing basic Jewish literacy and fostering Jewish identity in our school

• Creating a Jewish journey for all (inclusion and interfaith)

• Creating a Friday night experience that nourishes the soul and reaches a larger circle of our community.

• Creating a culture of giving (volunteerism and philanthropy) and helping all our volunteers with leadership

• Close sustainability gap of $60,000 (assumes we raise additional $4M)

• New working group still being formed; will review where we are at and make recommendations for change

Security

• Board approved physical changes to building, funding carried forward from last year’s budget, vendor selection was delayed but is moving again

• Security working group to develop policies and procedures, recruit volunteers to accompany physical changes

Web

• New web site launched in September, congregant management system has moved to web platform

• Rollout of new functionality to start after January 1:

• Communication to congregants about access to their information

• Migration of emails from Constant Contact to new web platform

• Launching online congregant directory

• Transitioning to integrated online financial transactions and other forms

• Enhanced capabilities for school, development, leadership, committees, etc.

What we are working on:

● A newly formed committee: “Welcoming the Stranger” in support of refugees and undocumented immigrants

● Our inclusion program had some great programming on supporting those that are differently abled (learning, mobility, vision, hearing, food allergies, and more)

● Project Ezra: making meals for an unprecedented 300 families

● Mitzvah Day: providing supplies for those in need

● Sponsoring programs and having a presence in areas related to refugees, immigration, racial justice, criminal justice, health care reform, and more

● Providing learning experiences by bringing in relevant speakers, running informative programs in many areas

● An increased commitment to Israel Engagement, bringing programming and information to our congregants. i.e. Shin shin program

● Providing supports as needed for people in our congregation: knitting hats, driving people to appointments, and making meals and more

● Volunteer? There are many opportunities from one-time participation to joining a steering committee

Conclusion:We need to reduce expenses by approx $300k and or rapidly grow the

endowment by $5mm or we will continue to have unsustainable budget
