The term “Binge drinking” is never strictly defined.However, it generally refers to heavy alcohol intake over a short period of time with the intention of becoming intoxicated and resulting so.This issue is particularly severe in Australia: 41% of the adults binge drink, which is high compare to USA, 24% and Europe which varies between 10 and 20%.

Short-term harms cause immediate harm to your health. They are mainly, but not limited to:

• Vomiting• Short term memory loss • Hangovers• Headaches• Nausea• Shakiness

Being drunk can also gradually decrease an individual’s ability to judge and react. Especially when under peer pressure, people will tend to do stupid things they will not undertake under any other circumstances.

Long term harms from binge drinking can include being mentally and physically dependent on alcohol, as well as irreversible permanent brain and liver damage.

Statistically, male population is much more likely to be engaged in binge drinking in all ages and is more volatile under alcohol influence, but teenage females are more likely to binge drink compare to teenage males.
