CAMP JAYCEETsofim Caravan (Scouts) Grades 6–9Four 2-week sessions: *Additional waiver must be signed to participateSession 1: June 20–July 1 Session 3: July 18–29

Tsofim Caravan brings together teens from all over San Diego to share in four different adventures! Teens bond and form closefriend ships as they enjoy summer experiences while traveling intheir own bus. Highlights include water skiing, tubing and wake -boarding at Mission Bay Aquatic Center, white water rafting atKings River with Zephyr Whitewater Expeditions, sailing on thetall ship American Pride to Catalina, and Standup Paddling andKayaking at Mission Bay Aquatic Center. Activities includesports, games, art, music, swimming and overnights.

Counselor-in-Training (CIT) Grade 10Two 4-week sessions: Session 1: June 20–July 15 • Session 2: July 18–August 12

Camp Jaycee’s Counselor-in-Training (CIT) program for selected10th graders, is designed to develop leadership skills in all campareas. Each session features training in conflict resolution,community service, age/group characteristics, activity planning,decision making and guest speakers. At the end of the 4-weeksession, campers receive a certificate of completion. Thiscohesive group gains work experience with a variety of agesunder the supervision of trained Camp Jaycee staff. CIT’s workwith preschoolers through third grade campers and mustcommit to a full 4-week session or both sessions. A CITapplication must be submitted along with a letter ofrecommendation, then each applicant will have a personalinterview with the Camp Directors. LIT Leadership-in-Training (LIT) Grade 11Two 4-week sessions: Session 1: June 20–July 15 • Session 2: July 18–August 12

(LIT) Leadership-in-Training is geared toward those who want tobecome a camp counselor and are interested in becoming betterleaders. Campers enter the program as individuals; and thenby working together, the group becomes a cohesive team,learning cooperation, problem solving, developing skills inleadership and teamwork. They will be hands-on with youngercampers, and work closely with counselors within a supervisedprogram. Participants will build their own resumes with real lifeexperiences and gain first-hand knowledge working withchildren, earn community service hours, and help make adifference for themselves and other campers. They will alsoreceive CPR and First Aid training. Must commit to at least onefull 4-week session. An LIT application must be submitted alongwith a letter of recommendation, then each applicant will havea personal interview with the Camp Directors. Broadway Jaycee Grades 7–12ONE 3-week session: July 10–28 (Sunday–Thursday, 4:00–8:00 p.m.)

Broadway/San Diego and Camp Jaycee have partnered for thethird year expanding this Professional Musical Theatre Intensive—due to overwhelming demand—to a 3-week camp specificallydesigned for actors grades 7–12 interested in pursuing a career inthe arts. Led by Jason Chase, the actors will take part in theatreintensive work shops such as the proper align ment of the breathingcore, classic scene study, script writing and analysis, songinterpretation and deconstruction, advanced audition techniques,stage combat, role/character development, proper repertoireselection, monologue selection/ preparation and dance workshopsincluding physical health maintenance, daily warm-ups, auditioncombination technique and intensives in ballet, modern, tap, lyric,partnering and jazz. The actors will also have the opportunity tosee the national touring production of Shrek the Musical at theCivic Theatre in downtown San Diego. Prior to the show, membersof the touring cast will offer a workshop to the Broadway Jayceeactors. Works-in-Progress from the 3-week session are presentedin a Cabaret showcase on the final day. School of Rock-Vista Jaycee Grades 6–11ONE 1-week session: July 17–21 (Sunday–Thursday, 9:00 a.m.–3:30 p.m.)

School of Rock-Vista and Camp Jaycee have joined forces to bringthis exciting week-long Classic Rock Performance Camp with agreat desire to perform with other musicians in a classic rockband. This camp is built on the philosophy that the best way tolearn to play music is by actually playing it. Campers will spend afull week working in a hands-on atmosphere learning performancetechniques and the art of being in a rock band. Workshops willinclude: group lessons on an instrument of their choice (guitar,bass, drums, keyboards, brass or vocals), music theory, rehearsaltechniques, performance practice and group band rehearsals.Campers will also spend time learning the care and maintenanceof their instrument, as well as develop an under standing of how asoundboard works. All of will lead to campers performing in a realall-ages rock show for friends and family on the last day of theprogram. Pre-requisite: Must have intermediate to advancedexperience with their musical instruments.$450/JCC Member; $525/Non-member

PLT Philanthropy Leadership in Training Grade 10–12ONE 1-week session: July 25–29

Philanthropy Leadership in Training is a leadership program inpartnership with the Jewish Community Foundation that promotesteen interaction with the San Diego non-profit community andexplores the concept of philanthropy. Participants will developleadership skills, discuss grant priorities, conduct site visits,speak to donors and grantees, and ultimately establish a plan to philanthropically contribute funds to a local non-profitorganizations. Participants will gain creative entrepreneurialmarketing and technological skills while focusing on consensus-building, interviewing, and public speaking. This week is perfectfor the highly motivated leaders of tomorrow.Fee: $270
