tedxberkleevalencia - marketing and communications report
TRANSCRIPT
TEDxBerkleeValencia is a project run by students and faculty associated with Berklee College of Music’s Valencia Campus. It is a unique blend of the innovative vision of Berklee, the flavor of Valencia, and TED’s focus on meaningful, global change.
2016 MiSSION:
The theme for TEDxBerkleeValencia 2016, Connecting the Dots, speaks to the idea of connectivity. On the one hand, we consider that through acts or moments of synchronicity, diverse ideas seemingly at random, across multiple disciplines, and without design can morph into something new in creative ways, pushing beyond limits and expectations. On the other hand, we question how in a hyper-connected world where everyone is constantly plugged in, do we still connect offline and maintain that interpersonal interaction? With the new trends in communication and technology, everyone is connected through six degrees -- or less -- of separation. In an attempt to bridge the gap between generations, how can we better understand the convergence of the past, present and future.
WHO WE ARE
Berklee College of Music was founded on the revolutionary principle that the best way to prepare students for careers in music is through the study and practice of contemporary music. For more than half a century, the college has evolved to reflect the state of the art of music and the music business. With a diverse and talented student body representing 96 countries, and alumni who have collectively won 305 Grammys and Latin Grammys, Berklee is the world's premier learning lab for the music of today —and tomorrow.
BERKLEE VALENCIA
Berklee Valencia: Opened in 2012, the campus is housed in the Palau de les Arts Reina Sofia, an iconic opera house designed for optimal musical performance and equipped with state-of-the-art technology. Music is essential to the history and people of Valencia, where students are exposed to a wide spectrum of cultures, audiences, and master musicians, and to some of the richest musical cultures in the world—including those of South America, the Middle East, Europe, and North Africa.
VENUE: L’OCEANOGRAFIC
The Oceanogra ̀fic of the City of Arts and Sciences is the largest aquarium in Europe and contains representatives of the world’s main marine ecosystems. Each building is identified with the following aquatic environments: the Mediterranean, Wetlands, Temperate and Tropical Seas, Oceans, the Antarctic, the Arctic, Islands, and the Red Sea, as well as the Dolphinarium with 24 million liters of water and a depth of 10.5 meters. The Underwater Restaurant and the Access Building welcoming visitors stand out because of their spectacular roofs designed by Fe ́lix Candela.
During their route through the various installations, visitors can get to know at first hand the behavior and way of life of over 45,000 individuals of 500 different species: dolphins, belugas, walruses, sea lions, seals, penguins, turtles, sharks, rays, sawfish, jellyfish, starfish, sea urchins, and crustaceans of all kinds, as well as wetland bird species such as those inhabiting the Albufera de Valencia and tropical mangrove swamps.
