SPONGE IRON PLANT:

THREE 100 TPD KILNS WITH SINGLE BOILER IN SPONGE IRON PLANT:

This is the first time in India to mixing the three kilns flue gases for single boiler; this is placed at M/s Devi Iron & Power at Raipur,

Chhattisgarh.

From waste heat gases power generation is more profitability, The sponge iron kilns produces the flue gases with high dust (Sand, Coal

ash, Coal particles and iron ore) concentration, flue gas flow variations, flue gas temperature variations, Un burnt carbon in flue gases

etc.,

We have considered the above factors for design the boiler to run safe, smooth & efficient operation.

Flue gases coming out from the three kilns are collected at mixing chamber and send it to boiler.

The main purpose of the mixing chamber is that the flue gases which are coming from different ducts will have different velocity, different

temperatures and will be coming from different pressures. Therefore in the mixing chamber these gases will mix properly to attain

stabile temperature and pressure.

The mixing chamber is provided with air nozzles around it, to ensure that the un burnt carbon present in the flue gases shall burn and to

improve the heat value of the f lue gas.

The duct in which the flue gases are flow it has to be refracted Upto 200mm thickness to ensure that there is no heat loss of the flue gas.

The mixing chamber is also refracted upto 200 mm thick to ensure no loss of heat of the f lue gases.

Additionally supplementary fuel fired burners are provided to ensure constant steam production, even when the one kiln is under

maintenance, these burners will ensure the required steam generation.

The main advantages of this kind of boiler are reducing the project cost, maintenance cost, and generate the accurate power even one

kiln in shutdown, because the additional firing system is provided.
