AVID Target Student Group Ability:
◦ The targeted AVID students typically receive C and B grades but are capable of much higher success
◦ AVID students succeed in college preparatory courses with support
Desire and Determination: ◦ AVID students want to attend college ◦ AVID students are willing to work hard to get there
Serving Typically Disenfranchised groups: ◦ In many cases, AVID students come from a low-income
household, and typically do not have access to essential resources, information, and opportunities to advance themselves academically or socially
◦ In many cases AVID students will be the first in their family to attend college
◦ Without AVID many targeted students are historically unlikely to attend college

◦ ALL 9th and 10th Grade AVID students take the PSAT Exam
