Technology Explanations

Blogger
Blogger was one of the main
technologies that I used. This was the
main centre for creatively sharing my
work and allowing it to be organised
into different pages, such as ‘Genre
Research’, ‘Audience Research’,
‘Planning’, ‘construction’, ‘evaluation
1’, ‘evaluation 2’, ‘evaluation 3’ and
‘evaluation 4’. Using this technology
allowed me to gain new skills in
presenting my work through a different
way other than on paper.
Slideshare and SlideBoom
These technologies allowed me to upload
Microsoft office work such as PowerPoint
presentations and publisher work online so I
could embed the code and put it onto my
blog. This is one of the only ways that I can
share my work onto the blog. Slideshare was
my main website which I used and which I
could use.

The Internet
The first main technology I used was the internet
this was a vital technology to use as it has very
helpful websites and search engines. I made use of
websites such as YouTube, Popplet, Google etc.
This helped me in research and planning to
discover conventions of Psychological Thriller,
allowing me to look at existing products in this
genre. This allowed me to be inspired successful in
researching and planning my trailer.
On the right is a screenshot of me watching the
psychological thriller ‘The Number 23’, this allowed
me to find the conventions in this genre’s products
to allow me to be successful in producing my
product.
Goggle Docs
I used Google Docs to produce my initial ideas. I used
this technology because it allowed me to easily adjust
my ideas so I could add them onto the list if I later came
up with anymore plots, themes, character traits and
representations of the trailer planning.
Because I was working with a classmate this technology
was useful so we could both add our ideas on whether
we was together or not.
This technology prevented us from clashing our ideas
because we was able to write down what we came up
with and have a fair discussion.
Here is a screenshot of our initial ideas plan which
ended up having my contribution to it, but the idea was
to share it so this is why this technology was useful.
YouTube
YouTube allowed me to easily watch
existing products of Psychological
thriller films whilst also being the source
technology of publishing out IMovie
videos onto them so we could easily
share with the target audience to get
feedback and also to embed onto our
blogs.
The image on the right is how I was
using YouTube to upload my first draft
of my trailer to YouTube.
Popplet/Prezi
I used the two creative
technologies Popplet and Prezi in
order to publish work in a creative
manner. Not only did the work look
more fun but it was also a way of
organising work effectively. Prezi
allowed me to have a certain
topic and to go into each branch
of it through different themes and
Popplet allowed me to create a
mind map which was very
effective on plotting ideas down.
Audience Research
Within the audience research I used technologies such as
Survey Monkey, which was the way I created questionnaires
online creatively to get feedback from my target audience
to help get feedback so I can improve. To publish the online
survey to my targeted audience I posted the link to my
questionnaire on the social networking site ‘Facebook’ in
which gathered peoples feedback fast and effectively. I
also tweeted the link on ‘Twitter’ which also got many
responses quickly.
Not only did I create online questionnaires but also created
a wall wisher, where I post questions on a wall and get
responses posted back, this technology allowed me to gain
new feedback technologies that was fun and effective.

IMovie (Editing Technology)
In order to present the information that I found in my research, I
used another technology which is IMovie, this allowed to present
my work in a new and creative video. I not only used IMovie in
my research but also for producing the trailer itself, from
transferring the clips from the digital camera onto the Apple
Mac, and onto IMovie. IMovie allowed me to fade out and fade
in, put parts into slow motion. The only thing that was not
successful in using IMovie was that in parts of the editing it is too
vague and there is a limit on how much you can edit.
Filming Technology
The camera I used to film my trailer was the Nikon D3200.
The high quality of this DSLR camera allowed me to film in
a high definition of 1080p which allowed it to become
more professional to resemble a professional product.
With this I was able to be able to get different camera
shots because I was able to have more tilt shots that in my
trailer focused on a weapon resting on the bench, which
made it look a lot more like a conventional trailer.
The ancillary products I used a Canon still camera this
allowed me to get high quality images to put on the film
poster and film magazine front cover, and this allowed the
quality definition was constant in all my production work.
Font Sites
The technologies I used for fonts within my
promotional package was ‘FontSpace’ and
‘DaFont’, which were both essential in the
production of my ancillary tasks.
In the planning of the process I gathered a
variety of possible conventional fonts from these
technologies, I experimented these fonts in my
ancillary drafts which was then narrowed down
to the most eye-catching and exciting looking
fonts.

Microsoft Powerpoint
Microsoft Powerpoint allowed me to present my
work in an interesting way. Not only with
different and eye-catching designs but using
animations and transitions.
