CyanMagentaYellowBlack Vol. 3 Issue 1 4 March 2019 KOLKATA Techno India Group Public School, Siliguri Navoneel 2019 was organised by Sky Watchers’ Association of North Bengal (SWAN), an organization associated with NASA afterschool astronomy initiative and affiliated to Confederation of Indian Amateur Astronomers (CIAA) and Astronomers Without Borders (AWB), from 14th to 17th February, 2019. Navoneel is an all-round astronomy exhibition and festival. Hosted biennially, this event sees participation from hundreds of school and college students with over ten thousand visitors from all around the country. Over 100 astro photographs by SWAN members are displayed along with high end telescopes, cameras and other astronomy equipment. These were demonstrated to the visitors by specially trained students from 11 schools and colleges. This year from all around Siliguri,13 teams participated in which 2 teams were from TIGPS, Siliguri. The four-day event was a great success for TIGPS Siliguri that secured five prizes – Riddhi Chakraborty of class XI won Best Demonstrator award and got Telescope with 30x zoom as prize. Sinjini Ghosh of class IX won Joint 1st in quiz, AnshuKumari of class IX won Joint 1st in quiz, Niheet Gupta of class IX won Joint 1st in quiz (they got Bluetooth headphone as prize). Parul Prasad of class IX won Joint 1st in quiz and got a Binocular as prize. NAVONEEL 2019 organised by SWAN Soumaditya Roy of class IX of TIGPS Siliguri has been awarded 3rdPrize in the Digital Creatives Competition at the National Level, category 1 (Videos,Audios, GIFs) of the ‘Eat Right Creativity Challenge’ conducted. Soumya Choudhury of class XI (Science) and Ayushman Jaiswal of class IX have been awarded 3rd Prize in the Robotics Workshop conducted by Technomate Edubotics Pvt. Ltd. held at North Bengal Science Centre. Except parents and teachers as friends, The only people in life, Who always remain with us – Are mom and dad and teachers, Who support their children forever. With the modernisation of the world, so many new and amazing things have been included in our lives. If we talk about media, then it has gone a long way. Probably there is no country or place left without being connected to each other. Social media is one of the modern items which has brought development and also advancements to our lives. Due to social media, the community is one step ahead. From talking to sharing – everything can be done. However, along with these advantages the social media is equally infected with disadvantages. Nowadays children are easily accessible to social media. They have more knowledge compared to the adults. They use it in a totally wrong manner and misuse it. To sum up, while there are some negatives associated with social media, the positives in communication all around, has made the world stronger and a better place to live in.
