Aries - The Full Moon in Capricorn and other planets in Cancer appeal to your cardinal energy.

Taurus - Use the first week of June to take a fun and quick vacation. Hold onto your wallet though—literally and figuratively.

Gemini - Mars and the New Moon in your sign makes this an exciting time for you when you reap the rewards of all your hard work over the past year.

Cancer - Happy Birthday, Cancer. Lucky Jupiter leaves your house of dreams and enters your sign on the 25th.

Leo - The New Moon in your 11th house could make June a very social time.

Virgo - If you get offered a new position, take time to think it over.

Libra - Your June horoscope looks pretty good, but topping the list is career.

Scorpio - Don’t do any last-minute, unplanned trips. If you must travel, make plans before Mercury goes retrograde in your 9th house.

Sagittarius - The Full Moon on the 23rd occurs in your house of earned income suggesting that you keep an eye on your budget—perhaps a budget someone helped you with earlier.

Capricorn - In career, both Mars and the New Moon will boost your popularity, but be careful not to overload yourself and remember to take some “me” time.

Aquarius - Work can start to stretch your sensibilities this month as doing a good job only adds to your responsibilities.

Pisces - Mixing business with pleasure is generally advised against by most, but for you, it’s just what the Full Moon ordered.

Unbeknownst to the public, media tycoon Oprah Winfrey spent several days in in Vero Beach this week, where she managed to shop on the main strip without being noticed!

The star arrived Monday in Vero Beach to shoot an episode for her talk show, “Oprah’s Next Chapter,” which will feature the Estefans. The episode will air Aug. 25 on the Oprah Winfrey Network.

“Gloria and Emilio wanted to have the inter-view here in Vero Beach because they love it here. They wanted to spread the Vero love to Oprah,” said Rebecca Kollares, a spokeswoman for Benchmark Hospitality International, Costa d’Este’s management company.

Winfrey stayed in the penthouse suite of the ho-tel, which opened five years ago. She also spent much time at the Estefan’s Vero Beach

Oprah Winfrey Visits Vero Beach home as well as “exploring Vero Beach’s Oceanside community” and the beach, Kol-lares said.

Oprah spent time with the couple and family members, including cousin Lili Estefan, co-host of Univision’s El Gordo Y La Flaca.

Winfrey and a crew of 80 people spent three nights at Costa D’Este Beach Resort, the hotel that the Estefans bought in the sleepy town 10 years ago.

Oprah’s favorite part?

The chow, of course: Oprah was a fan of the ceviche and black beans.

“She really loved the black beans,” Kollares said. “She even asked for the recipe. She said you can’t get that in Chicago.”

Making homemade laundry detergent can help trim your household’s monthly expenses. While it is possible to make a dry homemade laundry detergent with washing soda, the mix-ture isn’t ideal for cold-water washing. The soap does a poor job dissolving in the cold wa-ter. If you want to wash in both hot and cold water, make homemade liquid laundry deter-gent. List of Items Needed:

1 bar of soap Large pan 1 cup Arm & Hammer Super Washing Soda 1 cup 20 Mule Team Borax Laundry Container with lid (3-5 gallon)

Grate one bar of soap. While you can use a hand cheese grater, using a food processor with a grater attachment simplifies the task. Use laundry bar soap, such as Ivory, Castile, Pink Zote Soap or Fels-Naptha Laundry Bar Soap.

Fill a large pan about 3/4 full with water and bring to a boil. You need just enough water to dissolve the ingredients.

Add the grated soap, 1 cup of washing soda and 1 cup of borax and turn down to a sim-mer. Stir the mixture. Continue stirring until the ingredients dissolve. After the ingredients dissolve, cook for another 3 minutes at a sim-mer, continually stirring.

Pour the mixture into a container and add enough hot water to make 3 gallons. Let set overnight before you use the soap. You will need to stir this well before adding to your own small bottle for you. Dilute in half with water to make it last. Use 14 to 1/2 cup per load of wash, depending on the load size and water softness. This is low sudsing so can be easily used in your front loading machines without issue.

Homemade Laundry Detergent

Quick & Easy Wood Furniture FixYou don’t have to spend lots of money on an array of cleaning products to keep your wood furniture looking spectacular. You can clean wood furniture with a mixture of inexpensive white vinegar and water. A soft cloth is the only other item you need. If you want to re-store a luxurious shine to your wood furniture, you can do so with a mixture of white vinegar and vegetable or olive oil.

You will find various measurements for creat-ing a vinegar and water solution for cleaning.

Basically, 1/8 to 1/4 of a cup of vinegar mixed with enough water to fill a spray bottle is an appropriate strength for cleaning wood furniture. Spray the solution onto a soft cloth. You want to clean with a damp cloth rather than saturate the wood with the vinegar and water mixture. For large wood surfaces, you can dip the cloth into a bucket of the vinegar water mixture and wring the cloth out before rubbing it over the wood.

Quick easy and no harsh chemicals!

Summer Theatre Camp

St Sebastian Catholic Church will offer a Sum-mer Theatre Camp the week of July 22-26 for all kids ages 7-14. Kids learn a musical show in a week and then perform for their parents and friends. Camp is from 9AM-12:30PM at St Sebastian Catholic Church, 13075 US 1; just north of Walmart. Tuition is $65 with early and extended day available for an ad-ditional charge. The camp is directed by Jen-nifer Patty. Register and pay online at www.stsebastian.com; registration forms are also available at the church office. For more in-formation, phone the church at 772-589-5790.

In addition to their yearly vacation bible school, St Sebastian Catholic Church has added a week long theatre performance camp July 22-26 to its summer offerings for youth in the area. Kids ages 7-14 will meet Monday-Friday from 9AM-12:30PM and will learn to act, sing, and dance their way through a fully-staged performance of Ever After-The Musi-cal. The public performance will be at 7PM on Friday night, July 26th. Directed by Jennifer Patty, professional entertainer and director of over 50 children’s theatre productions in our area including Blue’s Clues Live and Rugrats, Ever After-The Musical is written by Nathan Hartswick and Bill Francoeur and is produced by special arrangement with Pioneer Drama Service. Ever After-The Musical is a hilari-ous parody of daytime TV, host Sally Lizzie Jesse Donatello-Griffin wonders if time truly heals all wounds. She invites Cinderella and her middle-aged ‘beauty-impaired’ stepsis-ters to reconcile with each other after being estranged for 20 years. What about Snow White and the Evil Queen? This hysterical fractured fairy tale has it all: a trash-talking clairvoyant mirror, an unfortunate prince who is turning slowly back into a frog and even Jiminy Cricket — now an occupational thera-pist and author of the book “My Life as Your Conscience.” The musical is punctuated by questions from obnoxious studio audience members and ridiculously funny infomercials for fairy tale related products. Get ready for some knee-slapping and hand-clapping with great foot-tapping songs like ‘Beauty Im-paired’ and ‘Bullfrog Mambo!’ The public is encouraged to attend the final performance at 7PM on Friday night, July 26th. Performance tickets will be available to the public in July. Saint Sebastian Summer Theatre Camp is co-sponsored by St Sebastian Catholic Church & Vero Home Audio, a local audio video design and installation firm.
