Building a Community that’s important to YOU

All year long I havebeen reading articles about the “PayWhatYouWant” model some synagogues are implementing to reduce the financialbarrier to membership. But, I recently read an article on Kveller entitled“ExpensiveDuesaren’ttheOnlyReasonPeopleDon’tGotoSynagogues”whichaddressedaquestionIhavebeenaskingmyselfallalong.WhywouldwechangethefinancialrequirementformembershipbeforeaddressingthedeeperdisinterestinattendingsynagogueandlivingaJewishlife?Despitewhatwedo,thereisdecliningmembership,lowparticipation,andapathy.Iwillbethefirsttoadmit,it’shardtonottakeitpersonally,butIknowandbelievethatTempleBethDavidasitstandstodayhassomethingveryspecialanduniquetoofferourcommunity. 100% PARTICIPATION IS NEEDED OUR ANNUAL APPEAL ALLOWS EVERYONETO CONTRIBUTE IN ACCORDANCE WITHTHEIR MEANS, ON A VOLUNTARY BASIS,

REFLECTING THE JEWISH CONCEPT OF TZEDAKAH.

Tzedakah demonstrates our commitment to Jewish life in our community. It is the only way of ensuring that Temple Beth David continues to serve its congregational family and guests, with the warmth and devotion that they have come to expect. Pledge cards will be provided in the lobby on Yom Kippur. Please pledge generously. This year we need your support more than ever before in order to meet our budget.

This campaign requires the unified leadership of every segment of our congregation; from the elders and founders, to the youngest and newest affiliated families. Our Temple is an extension of us. Within its walls, we celebrate our faith, practice its commandments, and observe our tradi-tions. Only with your commitment and support can we succeed.
