Students, please remember that you must log onto your student portal on Skyward to complete your registration. The deadline to complete your selections is Thursday. Counselors will be available this week during lunches in the cafeteria this week for any assistance or questions.

The THS Theatre Program will present its Broadway Musical Review performance this Thursday in the THS Auditorium at 6:00 PM. Admission is free to this event. Come and here some of our very own talented theatre students sing songs from some of your favorite Broadway shows!

Are you singer? Is performing something you love do? Do you think you’re the next Tavares Idol? If so, then make sure you attend an informational meeting during Learning Opportunities on Friday, April 27 where we will discuss the audition process and how to prepare to be the next Tavares Idol. Auditions will be held after school on Monday, April 30 with the show being on May 5 at 6:00 PM in the THS Auditorium. Tavares Idol is being sponsored by the THS Chorus and Theatre Department. Prom tickets will go on sale April 23rd.

Any senior who is planning to enlist in the Armed Forces after graduation, please see Mrs. Paulling or Mrs. Croker before April 23rd. We’d like to recognize you at the ceremony as well.

TAVARES HIGH SCHOOLDAILY BULLETIN

Senior Checklists will go out during Senior Week. Final transcript requests can be made on that form. They will be due May 4th. All seniors must complete a checklist to be cleared for graduation.

1985 - Tulane University abolished its 72-year-old basketball program. The reason was charges of fixed games, drug abuse, and payments to players.

1989 - Thousands of Chinese students demanding democracy tried to storm Communist Party headquarters in Beijing.

1999 - Wayne Gretzky (New York Rangers) played his final game in the NHL. He retired as the NHL's all-time leading scorer and holder of 61 individual records.

2000 - The Nasdaq had the biggest one-day point gain in its history.

2000 - Joan Lunden and Jeff Konigsberg were married.

2002 - Actor Robert Blake and his bodyguard were arrested in connection with the shooting death of Blake's wife about a year before.

2002 - The Amtrack Auto Train derailed in a remote area of north Florida. Four people were killed and 133 were injured.

2002 - The city legislature of Berlin decided to make Marlene Dietrich an honorary citizen. Dietrich had gone to the United States in 1930. She refused to return to Germany after Adolf Hitler came to power.
