New Satellites and Base School Building Projects are ready to start:

Greats news. After many months of discussion and planning we now on the start

line for our three projects to begin. On Friday the 5 September Richard Standing

our Property Advisor from the Ministry of Education Property Division, confirmed

that additional funding of $122,000 was approved for the installation of fire sprinkler

systems in the Brookfield and Welcome Bay Satellites, plus $30,000 to modify

toilets at Welcome Bay and last but not least, $15,000 to relocate the Caretaker’s

shed at Brookfield that currently occupies the proposed siting of the new classroom.

When we add the total of this new funding of $167,000 to the original $688,000 we

arrive at $855,000 to build the two Satellites.

In our last newsletter we stated that our goal was to have both these Satellites

ready for use by the beginning of the 2015 school year.

"Child Flight Charitable Trust is a fully registered trust with the Charities Commission

dedicated to 'Giving Special Kids a 3D View of their World'. In each region we are

setting up ANZ Bank accounts so that we can provide a facility which local sponsors can

donate monies for future flights.

You can find us on our website www.childflight.co.nz which has on its Home page our

Blog and Facebook links. Child Flight will always be there to guide and manage the

process … hope to see you soon"

Chris Jordon CEO.

If any families know of local sponsors for a flight please contact the school. For $200 we

can get 2-3 students up in a plane to experience this great opportunity. Alternately if

you know of a business that may wish to support this Trust- please contact us or the

website above. Money sponsored here in Tauranga- stays in our area.

Our last group of students were sponsored by Paula Simpson mother of Kristy Church

from Kaka Tec. Kristy and Jaidana wish to thank you very much for the flight and

experience. They came back down to earth- buzzing. Many students who haven’t been

up yet are asking “when will it be their turn?”

Please families and local businesses- help us to get as many students up in the air as

possible.

It is with regret we say good-bye to Jenny Purches who has been

on the staff at Kaka Street Special School as a Teacher Aide for

almost 14 yrs. During that time she has worked across the

classes, both in the satellites and at the Base school.

Jenny is a very practical and talented lady with her arts and

crafts. Many a time she has made articles on her sewing machine

or offered practical ideas to improve equipment, or learning for a

student. She has served on the Health and Safety Committee for a

number of years and represented the support staff in this role.

Jenny is leaving us to spend more time with her family, but will

still be available to relieve in the school.

We wish you all the very best for the future and thank you for

your valuable contribution to the school in so many ways.

Staff Farewell
