• Tata Steel is the world’s 6th largest steel company

• Established in 1907, it is the first integrated steel plant in Asia

• Jamshedji Nusserwanji Tata was the founder of the TATA Group

Strength

 • The brand name, location, investors, quality of the products and

production, reputation of the company in the market, policies of the company to meet any situation, the determined and trained workforce of the company and the financial position of the company are the major strengths of the company

 • As being the oldest company in the steel sector it has worked upon all its weakness and formed rules and policies to overcome any weakness or problem which the company may face in future in advance, there is no weakness of the company and it is an organization without any weakness and problem

Opportunity

• Significant growth in the construction industry with increasing usage of structural tubes

• Due to strong and well known brand name it can diversify into the production of new steel products

• Threats from substitute in terms of pipes in much lower cost

• Imports from China – tubes and tubular components

• New entrants –competitor’s entry in structural tubes

• Competition from other steel producing companies

• Closing down of various coal mines

• Ever changing technologies

Findings

• Reasons that have been affecting due date performanceo Sales orders are generally blocked as delivery dates

are changed by the customers and credit issues are also a problem

o Problems related to steel as for availabilityo Road permit, credit issues etc cause delayso Inspections involved by the third party

• Orders must be cross checked to avoid the delay• Steel availability or the new alternate sources of steel• Reducing third party involvement to certain extent

Other suggestions:o Safety and health measures should always be revisedo Quality of food and facilities in the canteen should be checked regularly

Conclusion

• Employees give respect to the Tata CoC

o Policies and Code of Conduct of Tata satisfy the need and it prevents unethical behavior

o It helps in creating harmonious relations among employees and prevents disputes

o Improves work culture and mutual trust

• Continuous growth performance

• Working culture of the company offers a great deal of enthusiasm and strong will power to work

• Tata Steel Vision 2012 includes Social responsibility and Environment concern
