Theme or focus of image & reasons for choiceFrom the Photographers I analyses in task 3 I can safely say that some of my images that I edited reach what I set out to do when I analyses professional photographers because Picture 9 and 8 has a black and white filter but also leaves one colour, that colour was yellow. It was similar to the picture that I talked about Simon kitchin photo. It is very similar when it comes to edit but it differs because I added more objects that had colours. The first photographer I analyses was an idea I couldn’t apply the same aspects to my own edits because they wouldn’t have promoted Salford quays in a good way because when you mostly think of post- apocalypse you think of zombies and you don’t want to go to place with such things, it would of look very professional. Then there was the final photographer which showed off a landscape that I’d like to go to unfortunately I didn’t go the right time to get the same photo, so I adapted to what I had, which was I was able to edit a better sky, I did this because of the original images looked dull, you can tell I did this in images; 6 and ten which I thought made the sky look better than it originally did. My personal favourites of the edits would have to be; 6, 8 and 9 because they are connect in some way for example 6 and 8 connect because of the depth of field used, 8 and 9 are connected because they both have a selection that isn’t in the black and white effect. You can see that picture 8 and are similar because of the black and white but picture 3 has a more transparent effect of it where it isn’t on that much, the other effects I used were sepia which made my photos look old as if going back in time which was shown on picture 7 and 4. Then finally there were was picture one I decided to originally add a snowy look to the image because if the moon was to become too close to the earth we’d be in a snowy wasteland but unfortunately it didn’t look right so I left it out.Techniques usedIn order for my photos to look originally as good the aperture, iso and shutter speed were the most important of them all because the depth of field was added in the edited part of the project, I’d say I predicted what I got when I was writing my proposal because I was able to go to the top of the war museum in Salford quays

and I was able to take very professional photos of Salford quays and some of them were used for final edits. The ISO of the photos I took were not high or low they were worthily around 800 which was a good choice because it would have changed the images drastically. Then I have the shutter was fast just because I wasn’t catching any movement, then there is the aperture was low because I wanted less light to go out.Strengths & suggested improvementsSome of the images look professional because of the way they were taken and the blurriness effect worked well the images and the effects due to colouring were working well with my images. Unfortunately there was a few things I didn’t think was good, for example some of the image was meant to be removed so I could of placed image behind it but due too small of pixels that I had to delete it was hard for me to work around it, also there was too dark some of the images unfortunately if it was too light it would of looked just as bad, so I think next time If I wanted to do better I’d make sure the lightning was correct and try different methods of lightning but also make sure I don’t get images that need removal of small pixels.Editing detailsPicture One – Firstly I decided that I would add the moon to make it look more at night, then I used the clone tool, to get rid of a few objects that I thought weren’t necessary in the image, then I turned down the brightness of the image and the contrast because the clouds were too bright so it made the image look darker unfortunately I couldn’t just get the sky to go darker because it had too many complications, then there was the adding of the moon, I found a reasonable image for the moon scaled it to size that I thought was right, turned down the opacity then changed the blend mode to overlay which then the image is done. The strengths of the image I would say is that the moon is well suited with the image, on the other hand there is what I thought was a weakness I thought the sky was too dark maybe I could improve this by getting the sky right when I take the photo next time.

Picture two – I didn’t do as much, for simply I changed the setting of the brightness and contrast, then created a blurriness around the bridge and then it look what I wanted so I finished that image. I really enjoyed the blur effect on this image and the contrast to boost detail, that’s what I thought was the best about the image unfortunately I thought the sky wants again was too bad I couldn’t change it because it wasn’t a sunny day I’d improve by going on a sunny day I will get better shots.

Picture Three – this Image had more effect than other for example I firstly added a Gaussian blur to the grey wheel that was the closest to the lens, also I blurred everything expect one building which focused on that building, then I added a black and white effect, I changed the opacity of the effect so it wouldn’t have that much that was black and white but it was mostly on the building I focused on using the blur, the process of creating that photo was I had two layers I had the original and the effects on another I erased the effect where I didn’t want going.

Picture Four – Firstly I blurred the picture as shown making it look focused on the bridge then I added image that was an image of an empty treasure map you’d expect to find and changed the blend mode to overlay so the style of the image overlaid onto mine, then I added effect that made the colour of the image more sepia, then finally I used the paintbrush tool using the dust particle brush I added it to the image, then I added blurriness to the brush making them look abit out of focus because that wasn’t the main focus of the image. I think this image is well edited and the place I shot it from it was a good idea, unfortunately I feel it’s too weak in colour making me need to get more colour too show its blurred but then you couldn’t tell that the image was using a black and white effect, I’d resolve this by making the

Page 8: Task 4 final images review work sheet landscape

image less blurry so I could focus on the colour.

Picture Five – this was the same as picture Two because it looked alright when applying the blurriness and changing the brightness and contrast. This image was one of the best images I took due to the location of where it was been taking the photo. On the other hand I can hardly see the blurriness and that might be a problem because it makes the image plain, I’d sort this out by boosting the blur affect not that much that it looks to blurred just abit so it focuses on the bridge.

Picture Six – The Process of this photo was simple if you know what to do, Firstly I got an image of a sunrise and placed it behind the building because once again the sky was too bright to actually see it. Then I selected on the stairs at from then by using the inverse selection which swapped what I had selected and made the background blurry, it makes the image focus on the stairs and gives a nice feel to it. The good thing about this image is that the blurriness affects works well to show the stairs more than it does anything else, I’d improve the sky like I said in the description, but to improve it more I’d go when it is sunny and the sky is bluer so it doesn’t look as dull.

Picture Seven – This was a not much from editing there was a small blur added and a sepia look to it and turned down the brightness, that was about it and I thought it look good enough to be a finished image. This is the similar to picture five because it was a good image I just couldn’t do anything to improve it so I just gave it a blur and colour change, if I was to improve it I’d boost the settings of the image.

Picture Eight – this was one of those image that had abit of work done to them, firstly I duplicated the image a layer for the effects and other just for original image. Then on the copied image I added two effects; black and white and Gaussian Blur then I selected the building in the middle I erased the effects on it and that’s what I got for my final image. I changed the contrast settings and the saturation because the colours look abit dull at first.

Picture Nine – This was the most time consuming of them all because I had to select each small piece of yellow and select it because as you can see I used a black and white effect to go other it to cancel out other colours from the colour yellow. The good thing about it is I did what I said I wanted to do in my proposal by cancelling out a colour on the other hand there were some colour that I couldn’t get and has too much of the colour, I could improve this by changing my angle of photography I may have an image that looks good and show less amount of the colour I wanted in so in this case yellow.

Picture Ten – I just simply changed the contrast and brightness settings to make them as right as I thought then I changed the background because I didn’t like the sky it didn’t look right so I gave it a nice sunset which finished the photo off.
