20TH CENTURY FOX

HISTORY20th century fox is an American film studio, and is one of the big six major film studios. The CEO is Jim Gianopulos. The studio used to be owned by News Corporation but now is part of Motion Picture Association. Some say it was founded in 1915, but others say it was in 1935 by 14 young women. In 1985 Schenk became chairman and chief executive officer, and Kent remained as president.

WHY 20TH CENTURY FOX?I chose this company to make my film, as in previous years it has produced some films which are similar to mine. Such as Taken, which is about an Albanian gang of human traffickers kidnapping a girl and keeping her hostage. This is basically the same plot as my thriller, as they both come under the same theme of kidnapping. Therefore, I think that this company would potentially like to make my thriller.

WHAT OTHER FILMS HAVE THEY MADE?They have made some of the biggest films, such as Avatar and Titanic, which both had a budget of over 200 million dollars. Which is a phenomenal amount of money. They both made an outstanding amount money as well, over 2 billion dollars each! This is another reason why I think I want 20th century fox to make my film, because they are able to make films well and they know what audience they are targeting.

MARKETINGIn previous years they have used various strategic marketing techniques. For ‘Rio’ they made a massive model of the main bird called Blu in the film and it did a wing-walking tour of Britain and Ireland. They then tied it in to local radio phone-in competitions for 'Rio' tickets and merchandise. I like the creativity that they use to market their films, as it makes them stand out to audiences across the world and makes them want to go and see it.

MAIN GENREI would say 20th century fox’s main genre is either action or thriller films, which is perfect as this means they would be more likely to want to make mine, as there is an element of excitement.

TARGET AUDIENCEThe target audience varies for their films, as they do produce some cartoons for younger children. However, most of the animation films that are made do contain graphic content, so their target audience mainly ranges from 18-34.
