WORLD History SyllabusCourse Description: This full-year. The course officially begins with the expanding and intensified global interaction focusing on civilizations in the Americas, Africa, then world religions and Europe for semester 1. Semester 2 starts with the Middle East region, then Asia, the thematic units of revolution, and ending with world conflict. The units are organized by geographic boundaries, with the exception of a world religions unit and revolutions and conflict units. Emphasis will be focused on the political, social, scientific and economic events which shaped the world as we know it today. We will continue to find an understanding of our cultural diversity and the role it plays in the economic and political processes of the world. The course will focus on critical thinking, organizational skills, decision making, and the formation of well-supported, persuasive opinions. REQUIRED FOR GRADUATION

Suggested Course Requirements: ➢ Three-ring binder, folder (with pockets), 2 1 subject - notebook, pencil/pen ➢ Successful completion of assignments, quizzes, tests and projects➢ Class participation

Grading Scale:

It is important for you all to understand that different types of assignments are graded differently and here is how it works.

25 %- Daily assignments (other)

75 %- Measurement Topics, Assessments, and Exams

A range = 90-100% B range= 80-89%C range = 70-79% D range =69-60% E range = 59% or below

*Students must pass each assessment with a minimum of 60% for this school year.

* Retakes are available for assessments and students have 2 weeks to improve their grade, after two weeks the highest grade possible is 60%.

*Late work for daily assignments will be accepted for ½ the value of the original credit.
