The companyTanazaIn a newly renovated "old Milan" building, a stone's throw from Garibaldi station, there is a company that is not at all old: Tanaza.The firm has developed and commercialized the software of the same name for cloud management of WiFi networks: an innovative product that allows you to reduce the installation and maintenance costs of wireless internet networks while preserving high quality.
In Tanaza, everyone works with the same goal: let users manage TanazaOS software and the connected cloud platform, which are currently both in the start-up phase.

The productTanazaOS
TanazaOS is a Linux-based operating system, compatible with various access points from different manufacturers. The chipsets used are Qualcomm Atheros and Mediatek, which are based on ARM and MIPS CPUs.
TanazaOS is installed on devices manually or through the TanazaOS Installer, an application for Windows or Mac (soon also available for Linux) that allows you to perform the procedure efficiently, through a user-friendly interface.Once the devices have the software installed, they automatically connect to app.tanaza.com, the cloud platform that allows you to configure the devices, monitor and solve network problems remotely.The platform is continuously updated with new features in its public cloud version. Still, it has also been made available in the private cloud for our partner Linksys, with thousands of devices installed.Tanaza also manages the Tanaza Classic platform, released in 2014, and has generated over 24 million users to date.
Tanaza and prestigious partnersAmong Tanaza's main partners, the American company Linksys, which manages data network hardware products, especially for home users and small businesses. Linksys, which already sells its Cloud Manager licensed by Tanaza, has been using TanazaOS since 2020 on all its access points.
Another partner with whom Tanaza has established a profitable union is the Brazilian Intelbras, creating a version of the software for cloud management of social hotspots customized for users in Brazil and LATAM. The Tanaza Intelbras Edition allows IT professionals in Brazil to take advantage of Tanaza's WiFi cloud platform alongside Intelbras access points.

Tanaza is a member of the Telecom Infra Project (TIP), a collaborative community among telecom companies that work to improve the infrastructure behind global connectivity. From 2019, it continues to contribute to the project, to accelerate innovation in telecommunication networks, through standardized, open-source, and disaggregated network solutions. In particular, Tanaza launched the Open Wi-Fi System project, in collaboration with Plume® and ConnectUs Technologies, giving proof of the compatibility of the WiFi management cloud platform with TIP's open-AP stack software, including the OpenSync ™ open-source framework.

In 2020, Tanaza joined Facebook Connectivity's Express Wi-Fi Technology Partner Program, which enables network equipment manufacturers to build network hardware and software that is compatible with Express Wi-Fi by Facebook. This last is part of Facebook Connectivity, a collection of programs, technologies, and partnerships designed to increase the availability, affordability, and awareness of high-quality internet access. Program members are currently collaborating to connect underserved communities around the world and to bring more people online to faster internet.
Over the years, Tanaza has won numerous awards, both general and sectoral (IDC Innovator; Wi-Fi Now Best Enterprise Software; Seal of Excellence of the European Commission), and has received funding under the Horizon2020 project for the TanazaOS project.

Tanaza invests heavily on the team, primarily through continuous training, which includes refresher courses and participation in specialized workshops, events, and conferences. Among these, for example, the involvement of our developers in the FOSDEM, Free and Open Source Developers' European Meeting, one of the most important events for Open Source communities in Europe, held every year in Brussels.

R&D Team The Tanaza R&D Team is composed of three areas:
System administrationManagement of resources and cloud platforms on AWS.
Embedded TeamIt develops Tanaza Linux-based firmware by continuously adding support with new features and compatibility of new devices. The team works both in kernel-space and in user-space, the build system is based on Yocto and Buildroot, the main programming language used is C, while for the scripting part both Bash and Python are used.
Full-stack Cloud TeamIt develops new features for cloud platforms and all the Tanaza applications, including TanazaOS and integration with other services, such as Facebook Wi-Fi Express. Technical stack: Typescript, Javascript (Node.js, Electron), Webpack/Rollup, React, Vuejs, GraphQL, socket.io, BDD/TDD test libraries, GIT, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis.

Our software development is carried out in an iterative, incremental, and adaptive way. We work for bi-weekly sprints with daily stand-up meetings. Everyone has a say in this, but the customer always has the last word. We support remote work, but we are more efficient if we speak in front of a whiteboard than on Hangouts.
R&D works with Quality assurance, Customer Support, and Product Design (which defines UX/UI) to ensure that the product best fits customer requests.The product manager is a shared function in Tanaza: a team composed of R&D, Marketing, Support, Design, and Sales meets weekly to make product-related decisions.
