Your Itinerary28 May ‘13Fly UK to Calgary, Canada. Rest of day at your leisure. Overnight hotel stay in Calgary.

29 May ‘13Calgary – KamloopsTravel onboard the Rocky Mountaineer from Calgary to Kamloops. Highlights include the Continental Divide, the Spiral Tunnels, the Kicking Horse Canyon, Rogers Pass, Craigellachie, where the last spike of the Canadian Pacific Railway was driven, and the glaciers and snow-capped peaks of the Canadian Rockies. Overnight in Kamloops. 30 May ‘13Kamloops to VancouverYour journey continues west towards the coastal city of Vancouver. Highlights include the steep slopes and rock sheds along the Thompson River and the rushing waters of Hell’s Gate in the Fraser Canyon. Overnight in Vancouver.

31 May ‘13Transfer from hotel to port to board MS Amsterdam and depart

1 Jun ‘13At Sea

2 Jun ‘13Glacier Bay, Alaska The glaciers practically terminate in your lap. A cruise to Glacier Bay National Park with Holland America Line will show you a UNESCO World Heritage Site that protects a unique ecosystem of plants and animals living in concert with an ever-changing glacial landscape. 3 Jun ‘13Skagway, AlaskaSome of the aspiring Klondike gold rushers who made it to Skagway took a look at the 500-mile journey that still lay ahead of them and decided a change of profession was in order. So many of them set up shop as provisioners that Skagway was the largest city in Alaska by the end of the 19th century. 4 Jun ‘13Juneau, AlaskaSqueezed between the Gastineau Channel and Coast Mountains, Juneau offers a lot of variety in close proximity. The massive Mendenhall Glacier and the immense Juneau Icefields are at its back door. The vast Tongass National Forest stretches away to the northeast. You can shop downtown or get out and kayak, dogsled, raft, hike, whale watch, flightsee or fish.

5 Jun ‘13Ketchikan, AlaskaKetchikan clutches the shores of the Tongass Narrows, with many shops and houses built right out over the water. The stairways are weathered and the vibe is cheerful in the town that calls itself the Salmon Capital of the World. Besides the main attractions – Creek Street, the Tongass Historical Museum, Totem Bight State Park and Saxman Village – try a flightseeing trip to Misty Fjords National Monument. 6 Jun ‘13Inside Passage Cruising The fabled Inside Passage is one of the most scenic sea-lanes in the world, and one of the few where deep-draft vessels can sail close to steep mountain walls. The scenery is unbelievable, with forests in a hundred shades of green, tumbling turquoise glaciers, and evocative towns loaded with history, culture and adventure.

7 Jun ‘13Arrive Vancouver and transfer to a 4* hotel for 2 nights - at your leisureIf you could watch the history of Vancouver as a time-lapse movie, you’d see the creation of a sawmill and a community that grew up around it, which then became the townsite of Granville. Then comes the railroad, and development of the great natural harbor. Then: a sudden linkage to the Orient, Eastern Canada, and Europe. Immigrants come, business blooms, and the skyscrapers rise up along Burrard Inlet, always with the mountains visible in the spaces between the buildings. Go for the galleries, boutiques, public markets, and restaurants of every flavor. Visit vibrant Chinatown and Stanley Park, with its 1,000 acres of forests, gardens, lakes and lawns in the heart of the city. 9 Jun ‘13Transfer to airport for flight back to UK

Review submitted at www.cruise.co.uk by: Huntley, Gravesend on 23rd April 2012

What a fantastic holiday we had. The group of 22 people who met at Beijing really jelled which made our cruise even better as there was always someone to

chat to. The China part of the holiday was excellent-nothing was too much trouble for the tour operator. The national guide Cynthia, and the local guides Jason, Beijing and Arran in Xian all spoke excellent English and were very informative. Strangely the day in Beijing most of us thought the best was the visit to the park for our Tai Chi lesson and to watch all the locals enjoy keep fit sessions.

Dune Dinner Safari

The world’s most popular excursion where you are taken into the desert in your 4x4 across the dunes and then on to a desert camp for a fun-filled barbecue, laced with all that the region is known for. This never fails to please and it is perfectly timed so you see the sun go down across the dunes before you experience a camel ride, belly dancers, falcons, henna tattoos, sand boarding and you can also try on the local costumes for that never-forget picture. Polynesian Paradise

Bora Bora

Unquestionably the most mythical of the Pacific islands remains the island of all dreams. Lush tropical slopes and valleys blossom with hibiscus, while palm covered motu circle the lagoon like a delicate necklace. Perfect white sand beach give way to emerald waters where impossibly coloured fish animate the coral gardens.

Papeete

Black and white sandy beaches with stunning volcanoes. This beautiful area island is something not to be missed. The island of Tahiti’s urban centre has much to offer visitors. Take a stroll through the new Jardins Paofai, watch the surfers on their longboards, marvel at Faarumai Waterfalls, The Blowhole and Fern Grottos.

Rangiroa

Stunning, beautiful, this South Pacific atoll is a “natural aquarium,” its lagoon filled with colourful undersea life. Visit the pearl farms, dive with manta rays, explore the atoll’s unique winery or just choose a calming respite on a pink sand beach.

Langkawi

Langkawi is an archipelago made up of 99 islands on Malaysia’s west coast. Surrounded by turquoise sea, the interior of the main island is a mixture of picturesque paddy fields and jungle-clad hills. Nature-lovers will find the island just as agreeable as the shoreline is fringed by powder-fine sand and swaying coconut trees. The island is especially recognised for its excellent diving opportunities and this tropical gem hides a treasure trove of other exciting holiday opportunities. From the expansive Underwater World Langkawi along Pantai Cenang to the soaring Cable Car in Pantai Kok, Langkawi is an electrifying locale that keeps visitors coming back for more.

Kuala Lumpur

Kuala Lumpur has transformed over the last few decades into a thriving metropolis with spectacular architecture ranging from Menara KL to the iconic Petronas Twin Towers – the second-highest buildings in the world. Boasting some of Southeast Asia’s largest shopping malls and a colourful jumble of street markets, Kuala Lumpur is a retail paradise. Unlike many Asian cities, KL has retained a majority of its historical buildings and features numerous tranquil spots within the city centre itself including the lush green lung of Lake Gardens and the greenery of Tasik Titiwangsa. The city’s landscape is a blend of modernity and traditional charm, with hawker stalls and pre-war shop-houses alongside skyscrapers and sophisticated buildings. To put it briefly Kuala Lumpur is a gateway to a truly multihued Asian experience.

Holiday HighlightsMonaco Grand Prix

Every spring, sports car fans from around the globe descend on the Principality of Monaco to witness the Monaco F1 Grand Prix. The Monaco Grand Prix is the one race of the year that every driver dreams of winning. Like the Indy 500 or Le Mans, it stands alone, almost distinct from the sport from which it was born. Spectators delight in the raucous noise of the roaring engines as they speed along the Boulevard Albert 1er up toward the Casino and around the hairpin turn in front of the Fairmont Monte Carlo. Overtaking is next to impossible so qualifying in Monaco is more critical than at any other Grand Prix. The Portier corner is key to achieving a good lap time around Monaco. It is preceded by the Loews hairpin, the slowest corner in Formula One, and followed by the tunnel, one of the few flat-out sections of the track. Some great names have ended their races in the barriers here, most notably Ayrton Senna and Michael Schumacher.
