When I created the first Clubbell prototype in 2002, I had no intention on bringing it to the public. It evolved specifically to address a massive hole missing in my personal functional fitness which could not be filled by any other existing tool. For years, I had experimented with various modalities throughout the cultures I travel. But I had to resurrect a dead language in ancient club swinging in order to continue my path into natural, healthy movement development.

Tapping into a design company also involved with aerospace engineering, I capitalized on my unique opportunity to train in the ancient technique through my martial art, but update the tools with cutting-edge modern technology.

The system of movement coaching I named, “Circular Strength Training” appeared that year, and with it, the patented Clubbell, by applying the best design elements from traditional clubs to contemporary textiles and modern methods of manufacturing to guarantee quality control.

The sleek, professional grade Clubbell met the current industry with great appeal, and debuted throughout gyms, clubs and centers worldwide. But another career development unfolded in 2005, just three years into the prolific rise of the Clubbell.

TACFIT dawned. After many years as a national coach for US martial art teams, including the national police team, I found myself needing to provide training outside the confines of a mat, out of the ring, away from gyms, and “in the field.”

Our mixed martial art teams, our military units, security firms, firefighter stations, police departments and federal agencies taking their personnel outside for dynamic training placed unique demands on the Clubbell, required us to revisit the classical design elements, and pressed us explore alternate methods of manufacture for the rough and tumble use that field deployment incurs.

After several years back in product research and design, we are very proud to release to you patented TACFIT Clubbell:

Made for portability in mind, to stuff in your backpack and check in the airplane, uses a unique method of manufacture to allow the same torque production of the classical Clubbell, at a fraction of the total diameter.

With field use in mind, we created an indestructible knob design which can be dropped and never break. And considering the grime and dirt which outdoor use can cause, we innovated an ergonomic renovation in the biomechanics of knob profile to marry the lateral flexion of the wrist-to-tool ratio. In other words, you’ll be able to it when it gets messy.

Utilizing a state of the art innovation in knurling specific to club swinging safety and effectiveness, coupled with a sheer polyurethane coating optimizes utility while minimizing its profile. Neither the handle, nor the barrel, causes dirt, grass or dust to adhere to it. And for carry and storage, the coating remains 100% odor free.

And of course, we branded it with the TACFIT Chevron: an imprint which shall not fade or run, and stamped the top of the knob with the actual kilograms of weight used, so that even in low light situations, you’ll be able to distinguish the weight you pick up.

For those of you who also do CST, you'll find that the original CST Clubbell still suits your needs more effectively, as the TACFIT Clubbell is designed for "in the field" use and wear and tear, as the more elegant parent CST Clubbell is much more "gym friendly." But for those of you who like variation in your equipment, you'll enjoy traveling with and swinging our new TACFIT Clubbell.The family grows, and the tools evolve.
