Badiri Education and Development, the youngest of NAMA’s five entities, aims to boost, reward and showcase the spirit of entrepreneurship amongst women locally and globally. Badiri builds the capacity of women entrepreneurs to participate in various sectors of the economy, and provide them with the skills and knowledge to reach their potential. It also focuses on entrepreneurship development, which it encourages through programmes such as Badiri Women’s Enterprise Development Virtual Academy, Badiri Social Entreprenuership Programme (BSEP), Badiri Business Entreprenuers Programme (BBEP), in addition to ongoing short workshops, seminars, and short courses that are geared towards creating the next generation of women entrepreneurs.

Established by His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammad Al Qasimi, Member of the UAE Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, NAMA Women Advancement Establishment is chaired by Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, Wife of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah. Our core philosophy at NAMA is to raise awareness that women are an indispensable human resource for the development of every nation. NAMA was conceived to go beyond the remit of supporting women and ensuring gender equality to a broader scope that aims to see women become influential key members of society, thereby enabling them to climb the ladder of success.

It encourages policies and legislation to support women and actively pursues programmes that support gender integration into all sectors and abolishes unjust practices and policies that discriminate against the advancement of women.

Sharjah Business Women Council, Irthi Contemporary Crafts Council, NAMA Fund, Badiri Education and Development, and Anwan, fall under the umbrella of NAMA Women Advancement Establishment.

SSE’s vision is of a society which values and actively supports those who seek to engage in innovation and enterprise for the benefit of society.

The SSE philosophy is simple. We believe that individual social entrepreneurs are key to providing effective solutions for community challenges. Through a unique action learning programme we actively seek to support, reassure, value, legitimate and guide individuals in their efforts to realise their goals and potential. We work with the help of an ever-growing network made up of a wide range of skilled people.

At SSE, we look for students with high levels of energy, persistence and tenacity who relish change and embrace new ideas. We create a climate and structure that is developmental and practical rather than academic.

It all started in the 1990s with an amazing man called Michael Young. Michael was a serial entrepreneur who founded and co-founded dozens of organisations, including the Open University, the Consumers’ Association, and the Young Foundation (originally called the Institute of Community Studies).Michael realised he could multiply his impact by equipping the next generation of social entrepreneurs to start up brilliant organisations to create social and environmental change. He started talking to people with curious minds and passionate hearts, who also believed that society.

Today the SSE has 10 schools operating across the UK and a further two international schools in Canada and India. SSE has works with 1000 social entrepreneurs each year by educating, guiding and supporting them with the knowledge they need to start-up their social enterprises.

Badiri Social Entrepreneurship Programme (BSEP) delegates will be the first cohort of SSE collaboration expanding across the Arab region.

About SSE

At SSE, we know that entrepreneurs favor action. They know what they want to achieve and want to get on with it. They are willing to explore their environment for opportunities and resources, they are people-powered individuals, they learn as they go.

Our courses understand that students come from diverse backgrounds, with a broad range of values, opinions and objectives. This course will offer the opportunity to question and analyze the experience of other social entrepreneurs across the UAE, the UK and India.

Badiri Education and Development, one of NAMA's entities, and The UK-based School of Social Entrepreneurs (SSE) are partnering on a 10 month programme for creating a cohort of UAE-based female social entrepreneurs.

Twenty women will be chosen for this first of its kind programme in the region, which incorporates profitable business ideas with projects that have a positive social impact.

The programme has a customised curriculum and will expose the participants to experiences in three countries: The UAE, The UK and India, and will give them a chance to get first-hand experience of what it is like running a social enterprise, and get inspired by expert social entrepreneurs and previous SSE graduates.

The process of application and selection for the BSEP programme will take place in the first quarter of 2018, and the programme will start in the second quarter of 2018.

In addition, the programme will give the participants access to the extensive SSE Alumni network. SSE was founded in East London in 1997 and has since grown to become a global network. SSE now has 12 schools across the UK, Canada and India, and reaches people even further afield than that.

SSE helps more than 1,000 leaders of social change every year through courses, connections and support. They develop their impact, networks, business skills and emotional resourcefulness. Their learning approach focuses on peer-support and taking action.
