THE REASON BEHIND THIS BIBLEWORDS FROM THE GENERAL EDITOR

Following Jesus means fulfilling a calling. Yet, it is not just any calling that we are asked to fulfill, but one that He established for us—as clearly illustrated in Matthew 4:19: to be “fishers of men”, that is, to reach lives for Christ.

In my daily conversations with pastors from across the continent, a constant concern seems to be “how can we ignite a passion for evangelization in the people of God?” We are suffering from a chronic and dangerous scarcityof evangelism: chronic, because we have tolerated this condition for a long time, and dangerous, because the church that doesn’t win souls for God is destined forextinction.

The daily struggle for the average Christian isn’t so much a lack of knowledge of biblical truth, but rather ignorance of where to find the appropriate verse to enlighten a particular situation.

For this reason, this Bible has been designed for the Christian in his daily walk. It is intended to help himin his place of mission, whereverhe serves God, and when hecounselsothers.In the Fisher of Men Bible you will find quick and easy-to-use features, enabling the biblical answer to be at hand whenever the need arises.

This Bible was not designed to provide grounds for arguments regarding religious views, but to convince the confused or needy person of the essential truththat Scripture is the word of God— unique, alive, and powerful.

I feel that this publication comes at a historic moment, when the Lord’s Church urgently needs to direct her eyes towards a world in crisis and go out to its rescue. It is our responsibility to spread the message of salvation in Christ. The church will reach “the ends of the earth” and will spread to “every creature” for the glory of God only if we are active believers.

We hope that the Fisher of Men Bible will be a powerful tool in the hands of all those who desire to respond to God’s call and the command of the Great Commission by becoming fishers of men.

USER'S GUIDE

DR. LUIS ÁNGEL DÍAZ-PABÓNBorn into a Christian family, Díaz-Pabón accepted Christ in New York City at the age of 15. God touched his heart while reading the 14th chapter of John in a Bible he had stolen from an old woman. Díaz- Pabón, transformed by Jesus Christ, began his ministry as an evangelist in Puerto Rico in 1973. God has given him the privilege of traveling throughout Latin America, the USA, and Europe leading evangelistic crusades, developing a ministry that helps to satisfy both social and spiritual needs of the people.

Díaz-Pabón studied social work at the Interamerican University of Puerto Rico, theology at the Alliance Seminary in Ecuador, and has received several honorary doctorate degrees from different universities.

He married Estrellita in 1977, and they have 3 children: Juan Carlos, Gustavo Adolfo, and Lorraine Marie. Estrellita and Díaz-Pabón are proud grandparents to 3 grandchildren, with more on the way.

As president of the Global Missionary Society he leads several ministries including, La Capilla del Rey (The Kings Chapel), a church in Miami which he founded and currently pastors. He also supervises other churches affiliated with his ministry.

Throughout his ministry he has remained active writing for several magazines, producing both radio and television programs, plus is the author of a book: Secretos de Fe (The Secrets of Faith).

His passion for winning souls keeps him very active, taking advantage of the internet to maintain contact with his faith family. His webpage, DiazPabon.com is visited by thousands from around the world.

Evangelism has been a constant part of his life. Joining forces with local ministries he has participated in events reaching hundreds of thousands annually.

His evangelistic crusades have drawn as many as 60,000 people in one night resulting in thousands of decisions for Christ. Miracles have followed him, confirming the presence of the Lord at every event.

atHeIsm Atheism is the denial of belief in one or more gods. It denies the supernatural and restricts its universe to the intellect and to what the senses perceive. BuddHIsmPhilosophy adopted by Siddhartha Gautama (566-486 BC) in Ne-pal in northeast India. His followers turned his beliefs into one of the largest and most important religions in history. It is based on the visions of Buddha. Convinced of the inevitability of suffering and death, Buddha affirmed having attained the enlightenment necessary to be released from reincarnation. Buddhism proclaims four truths: all existence involves suffering or frustration; suffering is caused by desire; if one can eliminate desire, one can eliminate suffering, and there is a path leading to the goal. cHrIstIan scIence An American sect also known as Church of Christ, Scientist. It was founded in Boston by Mary Baker Eddy in 1879 and became an in-ternational organization in 1892. Since its inception, the so-called Christian Science is associated with healing by faith. The Church has preachers who publicly read the Bible and the book of Mrs. Eddy, while other followers engage in teaching that disease is an illusion and that knowledge of the illusory nature of death makes salvation possible.
